My request is, if there are any of the 'last ride' decals remaining, I'd really like to get one, to replace the broke-wing bird on the rear window of my elky - I'm giving H-D back the bird (read it how ya want to). Again, thanks to all of you - a fine showing yesterday.

im sure nick will gladly get you one. i'll try to remember to mention it to him. you can pm me if you want so i can get him an adress. he's still holding some for me too. i'll probably get those when he swings in one of these days.

or just pm nick http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/boar d-profile.cgi?action=view_profile&profile=spike240 sx-users

No-rice tried to get Erik to do the burn out, Erik seemed to actually think about for a second and then said "You bought, you do it!"

that was great! lol. he did take a few steps towards it, but then thought better of it. his response... "i;ll probably blow the belt off of it" mine... "ive got a spare in the van!" the look on his face was priceless! lmao.

it was hooking that payvment HARD. the way the thing banging into the next gear youd think it would have knocked the trans out. guess its a good thing they are tractors huh?!

that burnout was ridiculous. good job man, way to show respect for Buell. Maybe you should have done one @ the front steps of Harley. So badass! He didn't stop you because he was humble. Let me shit on something you built from the ground up, see how you feel.

yeah I'm bitter.

How's doing a burny disrespect?

The way he put that tranny and drive train through a workout was a tribute to how it was built.

do you have any idea how many people waited around just to watch. hell it was pretty obvious erik loved it. and so did the rest of the employees that watched, unless thumbs up has some new meaning to it recently.

what else are hooligan bikes for then to be beat! Erik and the elves built them strong, to be used hard. enjoying your bike to the fullest is a compliment not something disrespectful...

that bike has been beat to hell and back. i keep my bikes in good mechanical condition, but i use them VERY hard. i thought it would have let go years ago, but it just keeps going. it still shifts like new. ran it all the way back to waukesha slamming gears and doing rolling burnouts on the wet streets with not even a hint of problems.

if it did let go, i wouldnt fault the bike one bit. its more then proved its durability to me 100 times over.

Again, you guys don't know "No Rice"!!! Squid I doubt it highly... this was planned from day one and those who do know Tim "The Burn" was out of respect for the bike and the Man himself. Hell, I already promised Tim $20 to start a tire replacement!!! Maybe we all could send Tim $20 for another next spring. And my last comment to those who could not make it you should have been there for the unofficial group photo!

He just said he was "doing rolling burnouts on the wet streets"...ummmmmmmm????

No_Rice, I'm talking about the burnout you did when we all arrived at the Factory. I think that was uncalled for.

And I'll post this again: BudC, didn't you say no messing around...? I don't think that's cool! In the parking lot of the Buell Factory, on this special occasion...? I don't get it.

Yup I was next to him ; )

I'm thinking the company that has promoted it's hooligan image (incl burnouts in ads) for years would not mind a little burnout in front of the building.

Oh, and I heard a few employees wondering if they would see any smiley faces.

yep, mostly in back of the couple person pack out in the boonies. you realize a rolling burnout on wet payvment consists of rolling on the throttle right... here i thought a squid was someone doing things that endangered someone else... i seem to make sure im not near enough to anyone to cause them damage even if i screw up. who would have thought someone would think of that BEFORE they do things

i also speed on occasion. damn me.

and bud knows me very well. he was talking about on the ride. in the big groups. he already knew what was planned for later as did most the rest apparently except for you. youre allowed your opinion, and in return im allowed to not give a crap ; )

the only people i cared wether they thought it was good or not enjoyed it. thats all that mattered to me. i wasnt there for you i was there for my friends that work at buell.

and Erik does look upset doesnt he...

if it wasnt for the wet, there would have been.

but those advertisements with that smiley face burnouts were a slap in the face off all the buell stands for. i cant believe they ever made it into publication....
sarcasm back off...)

I think Bud is in a couple of the pictures watching the burnout along with Erik and several other employees.

I thought a fitting tribute to a great day and great company.

Are you guys seriously going to b!tch about a burnout? LOL

GREAT Pics! And No_rice, I really enjoyed meeting you at homecoming this year and getting a good look at your Firebolt. I think you did a great job with it. I really wish I'd been able to attend but the military has me doing other things at the moment.

I heard 0 complaints from any of the ~30 employees I spoke with about the burnout upon arrival. Everyone thought it was pretty cool. And those that stayed around for the end one enjoyed the hell out of it. Wish I hadn't packed up my camera so i could have taken pics of the cheering crowd around including Erik and Court among many others. No_rice keep up the hooliganism its imbeded in the soul of the company anyway.

Had to stop to add a layer and switch gloves and fuel up but took about 2 hrs. When I drove to the factory last year in my truck it took me 2.5. I was massaging the speed limit a bit. That may make me a Squid too though so I won't say how fast I was going.

As a side note though if you are in 40*F rain traveling at an almost steady 85-90mph your oil temp will not be above 100*F and your fan, if your bike has one, would not kick on either.

Let me explain a little something to you guys who were not there... the day was great!!! We, together, pulled off something that will be a good memory for the employees at the factory... one thing I did, even though it was such a small thing to do, was hug every woman I could that had put years of their heart and soul into the Buell Motorcycle Company... there were some tears but, lots of smiles yesterday also...

Funny thing is, the only woman I asked if she worked there before I hugged was Mrs. Buell herself, she was very polite about it also... which made me feel a little goofy... and a little awkward... but she let me give her a hug anyhow...

One thing is clear to me after yesterday, even if HD Co is a BIG machine... it is even more apparent the BM Co is a family operation... I think this one photo says it all

Values

After most of the employees and riders left, there was this silence in the air... and a cool rain coming down on us... and there was this emptiness I felt... and shock still of the finality of the situation... my mind kept saying "IS THIS IT? IS THIS ALL THERE IS?"... and that emptiness touched on the collective pain of the plant closing... that all these people through no fault of their own will be out in the streets looking for work next week.

I have been in their shoes now for one year... and it saddens me that here in AMERICA... the greatest nation on earth... we can't take care of our own...

We continue to lose jobs... and people continue to have their dreams crushed by this... I thought I would be buying my first house around now... and now I just hope I get to hang onto the things I have... including my M2L...

That silence hit hard after most everyone left.

I went inside the building for one last pit stop and when I came out there was this cloud of smoke... and people were laughing again... and it made it just a little bit easier to walk away... but walking away was still very difficult...

SO,the burnout was just an expression of that spirit that started the Buell thing off in the first place... we are unique... and we are proud... and we will continue to celebrate these machines and the people who made them and the people who ride them...

Another funny thing happened when Court took the microphone... everyone... Erik and Henry and all were pretty brief, because I think no one really wanted to make it more of a sad occasion than it already was... and Court starts talking and talking and then someone... Duga I think said "I thought you were going to keep this brief"... that was very funny... and Court took it in stride...

We will all be waiting to see what happens next...
