Did not Britten build his bike on a 20K budget. The motor he built was all off the shelf car parts he only made the crank case castings and outer most parts(heads).
How did he get 170HP out of it?

Maybe the budget for one of his earlier bikes was 20k, but he spent a *lot* later on. I remember hearing that he'd spent *heaps* developing and making carbon fibre wheels, among other things.

This maybe just a rumor but I have been told their was a effort by his widow to put the bike into production and it was found to be impossible in its present configuration. Kind of like when Harley built the VRod out of the VR1000.
