Hello Badwebbers. Let me introduce myself: Long time lurker, Love the show! I never intended to create a profile here as I have a little contract I signed with my employer stating I'd never discuss confidential information with anyone outside the company. I will honor that contract until I die *period* We were however, granted permission to post our opinions in public forums, providing we adhered to said contract & business code of ethics. Will do, Jon! Another reason for never registering before is the sensitive nature of my position at The Mighty BMC. I'd never wanted to open myself to intense inquiry or ridicule of the work me or my teammates do for Buell. I am in the quality department... enough said. Any nahsayers, at this point, Please don't hurt me, I'm only the messenger! : ) I, and a few of my coworkers (some just aren't internet folks) want all here to know how Very Much we Appreciate the outpouring of Sympathy & Empathy everyone has shown. I know how heartbreaking this chapter of the legacy is to you people too & my heart is with all of you as well. From the bottom of our Hearts~ Thank You!
I may post around a little but I really just wanted a place to voice my gratitude for all the passion & devotion to the Company I've devoted the last 13 1/2 years of my life to. My career at Buell Motorcycle Company has been the Most Exciting & Amazing ride of my Life! Thank You, Erik! What A Ride It's Been!

So are you a cute elf? : D

Lori,

Thank you for posting here. We don't get to hear from many in "Santa's Workshop". We wish that were not the case. We hoped you guys were seeing what we post. Especially now.

Please convey our sorrow. More importantly, please convey our gratitude to the rest of your co-workers at making Buell one of the greatest places with products to match.

Your efforts have made an indelible mark on every Buell owner and fan.

Good luck and God bless!

What thoroughly enjoyable bikes you helped produce but at the end of the day they are just a form of transportation - an innanimate object. I will awake, God willing, on Monday and return to my job. Those at Buell that put their heart and soul into their job will have none in a few short months. The untold and overlooked story is the hundreds of direct and indirect people that will be negatively affected by Buell's closure. May those that are not fortunate to transfer to Harley Davidson find the strength and support to carry them through. I hope our words of thanks help in some small measure.

Ferris_von_bueller, my bike is so much more than "just a form of transportation". To me, it's therapy, my reward for busting my butt day in and day out, and the product of someone elses hard work, ideas, and passion. Thank you Lori for your years of service to us and the passion of BMC. You and all the other Elves have made a huge impact in my life as well as many others I'm sure.

Lori, you gave yourself away when you said Jon. I bet there's not too many Jon's at Buell. Maybe a few John's but not Jon. I'm pretty sure I've talked to Jon before and he was very helpful. Our thanks to you and Jon and the rest of the elves, I enjoy the final product of your efforts greatly. Good luck to all of you in the future.

Thank you Lori and all your co-workers. There are many of us that think this is but an end of a chapter, not the book of Buell.

Ferris, I have to respectfully and whole heartedly disagree. I bought my first Buell almost 11 years ago and thought it was just a "form of transportation" although a decidedly unique one. That was until June of 1999 when myself and six other Buell riders had the oportunity to ride through the White Mountains of New Hampshire with Erik.

That day forever changed my outlook on what a Buell motorcycle was. It's so much more than just a bike. It's a living dream of one man, made possible with the aid of a highly dedicated group of employees. I'm sure you meant that statement as a way of pointing out the human factor in all this, but at the end of the day calling any Buell motorcycle "just a form of transportation" misses the mark by such a wide margin it's almost laughable.

Lori, thank you for your contributors to what to me is more than a form of transportation. I have only been riding on Buell's for about 2.7 years, but between the bike and Badweb, my life was totally changed. Good luck to you and the other Elves, I hope that things turn for the better for you guys in the near future. : )

Hahahaha . . . and MAN do I have some "Lori Stories" (with photos) to tell . . . I am bound by no such restrictive agreement.

: )

Many of you know who Lori is . . . for those of you who don't she is the embodiment of the passion, professionalism and dedication that is in evidence at East Troy.

Yeah . . . I may have to do some writing tonight. You folks may need to know some of this stuff.

By the way . . . one of the best photos I have of Lori she never knew I took. It was in a quiet, reflective moment just as the 100,000th Buell ceremonies were winding down.

Jon arranged for Vickie and I to be the only "non-Buell" folks there and some of the photos, in those unguarded moments, showed faces filled with pride that tell stories I could never write.

Very cool stuff . . .

Oh damn my heart is just swollen! I know what was trying to be conveyed by : "just a form of transportation" but I also understand what the sense of family is created when there's a shared passion for something. The pride I've had for helping to create that passion for all of you is beyond description as is my heartfelt thanks for all the kind words. May the Pegasus rise like the Phoenix!

I had a very close friend that came from a long line of Sioux medicne men. The part of his philosophy that I understood included a bit about how the creation/shaping of inanimate objects could imbue them with something very similar to a soul/spirit. Every Buell seems to inspire passion and attract a very "interesting" group of owners, likely due to you and your fellow elves. The Buell spirit is strong and you need to take credit for that.

Simple machines are never that simple and sprits never really cease. Too many beers around a campfire can make you see the spirits

Lori

I just bought my second Buell today a 2010 XB12R in Yellow the last seven of the VIN 300070. Which I'm guessing makes it the 70th bike to roll out of production for the year. I don't want to say final year because I feel we will be graced with more of Erik's and the elves creations. I did purchase it at a greatly reduced cost and that bothers me, not because I don't like saving money, but because off the series of events that have happen and will happen that allowed me such a discount. The only good I can see from any of this is that your loyal Buellers and new Buellers into the fold can enjoy the latest generation of your gifts a little easier.

I was unable to finish reading your introduction and thanks without getting choked up. You have set a desire in me 11 years ago the first time I saw a S1W sitting in the dealer showroom. I have been riding for more than 22 years and no bike I owned or have ridden has given me as much satisfaction as my Buells. I will always be thankful for what I have received and that thanks Goes out to everyone at Buell.

98 S1W
10 XB12R
