Way too many memories and people to list them all but here's a few highlights. Homecomings FBRAT ride The rescue of Taos by Badwebers 2 Pegasus awards BattleTrax Track days BRAG Back to the Track Buell "training" Being a part of proving the "Buells just don't sell around here" myth is false. Going to the "Barn" Riding wheelies down Buell Dr Daytona Road America The list could go on and on. |

Yep, there's more The original "Dave's Buy, Fly and Ride" promo The "Ride your ULY to the UP" promo Those were really special to me. The day I got it approved (not by corporate) to have Buell of Appleton Buells shirts with the back logo saying "When it comes to Buell, we kick ass!" That was awesome, I gave one to Erik the next time I saw him. |

where can you even start on this topic top moments in no particular order * making Killboy's highlight page on the Dragon with my son flashing the "hang loose" sign (see my profile pic) * having my neighbor come over and ask me if I was finished riding the bike for the night (the night i put the drummer on and couldn't stop running it up and down the street) * having Rubberdown ran up to meet me at the Dragon at about midnight when i rolled in and asking me if i knew i had a headlight out and to let me know it was still running...classic ! * standing at the Shady Valley country store on Sunday evening with my Buell t-shirt on and having a 4pack of C3ers roll in and point at me (Jlnance, Rubberdown, M2nc and one other) i remember Jl getting his picture taken at the "warning to truckers" sign *the first time i demo'ed a Firebolt and my cheeks hurt when i got back from smiling so huge the entire ride, the only time i think the word "giddy" described how i felt *watching peoples jaws drop when they heard me rev up a sportbike that didn't sound like a angry bumble bee and watching them mouth "what the h--- is that?" |

Okay, I'll play... I walked into Gene Lumus with Dad in 1993 and saw a Buell for the first time in person. I made circles around the bike for an hour. I had to have one but I had a wife that loved to ride and there was no way to do it on that bike. But still I lusted. A few months later Kim and I were riding one evening and had a car pull in front of us. We survived. How I gathered up the situation and missed the car is still a mystery. Kim's knee had only brushed the front bumper but her riding days were over. I mulled around for a coupla years after that hoping that she'd change her mind. She finally said, "I'm not going to ride anymore, go get your Buell." I was elated at the prospect of owning a Buell but sad that she had walked away from riding. Bittersweet. In the fall of 1996 I began calling around. I wanted an S2 but all the dealers said, "no you want this new S3." Without the network we have today I went on the dealer recommendation and traded the Sporty for a pearl white S3. I never looked back.
Shortly afterwards I had a friend drop by the Cycle Shop and give me a copy of Battle2Win. It's the early issue with all the start-up Buell clubs. I was on break so I called this guy that went by the name of Ferris Bueller. An hour later and just as the shop was closing I was still on the phone with him. I was not only smitten with the bikes but with the people who shared the passion. In a series of events that can only be described as a snowball rolling down a hill I had joined PACBOG, bought a computer and had started networking with other twisted souls. I joined an e-mail group called Bad Weather Bikers and started friendships with folks here that will last my lifetime. Many of us here developed strong ties in cyberspace months and even years before we ever shook hands. It was a strange, new and wonderful chapter in motorcycling and I was there for the ride. Within a few months I, with the encouragement of Ferris Bueller, organized a scouting run for a ride we later named BRATPAC. It may have been one of the first Buell gatherings at Deal's Gap. Danny Goldsmith(DarksideS2) rode from California and Todd Williams(S2pengy) from Georgia. We basically laid out the loop that we've taken on the actual BRATPAC rides since. Then there were the Buell events at Mid-Ohio where I finally got to meet Erik, Neil Schwartz(ccryder) and probably one of the coolest riding brothers I have today, Hillbilly Ed. On the first BRATPAC ride I finally got to meet Ferris Bueller, Fireman Jim, and Henrik. And then the Homecomings where I met Court, Tat Marcy, Aaron & Susan Wilson, Dave Gess, Pammy & Wes, Cap Lillard, Andy Spiegal. On the salt I finally got to meet Woz , Rex, Big Hairy Ralph, Sparky, Peter Moltmann, Rocket, Brian & Richard Nallin, Joe George, Jack Van Vost. And I can't forget the Elves Invade East Troy where I met Josh Andrews, Whatever, CJ, Dyna and so many others along the way that it'd take me months to remember. At gunpoint Court led me into Team Elves and things got real interesting and the passion deepened. Our success on the salt only intensified the satisfaction of knowing I was hanging with a pretty exceptional group of riders. Dad was a hot rodder in the late 40's and early 50's and he loved motorcycles and heading off into adventure. Our last trip together was in September of 2001 where we participated in Team Elves 2nd assault on the salt. We broke more records that year even though it was done in the shadow of the 9/11 attacks. Bittersweet. Dad was proud to see my name on the tail of the land speed bike as a team member. He also really admired two guys we met there that year, Choptop and Chop-pop. Chop took a Yamaha 50 and attached a sidecar and set a record. It was great fun for everyone in the Team Elves camp. It was cool to see another father and son sharing passion for motorcycles and speed. Sadly in a short period of time Chop and I both lost our pops. During those tough days it was my friends from the Buell community that called and wrote and stayed in touch. This new family that had suddenly came into being. I captured a new brother the day I lost Dad, Mikey Breedlove. Many here have met and rode with him. He's one of a kind. He's a Buell rider too. Our 2nd BRATPAC ride started at Mikey's with a kick-off party that included Lou Usher entertaining. At the second ride I met Oldog, Reepicheep, and Gentleman Jim Attebery. Jim and I have taken several adventures together since then covering a good bit of the country. On our Memorial Rides I've met Twig, Neverenuf and many others. Soo many of my best rides came from the purchase of that first Buell. Hey, I was the other guy on the "Out of Words" ride. Some trips are magical. I currently don't ride a Buell. No fault of the bike. My roads have taken me different places since 2002 and my desires in a bike have changed. I want another S2 in the worst way but it's not in the cards right now. Having said that I will always identify my core group of friends as Buell. I said a long time ago about both BadWeB and Buell that' "I came for the bikes, I stayed for the people." There's still folks like Dino & Char, Capt Pete, Lemonchili and many others I've yet to meet but when I do those moments will be traced to Buell. All the best to Erik and his Elves. I will support you in any way that I can. Your dream has made a lot of our dreams a reality. Thanks. We know this ride isn't over, we're just trying to figure out where it's going. Bittersweet. The first Buell I ever rode: 1995 "Come to Your senses tour" I think it was an S-3. I was a Harley guy with a souped up Sporty known for accidental wheelies when I got on the sucker with the breadbox airfilter. It was the ultimate sportster and I fell in love. 10 years later, I got on an XB 9R for a Riders Edge instructor training, my hips and knees cracking to get my feet on the rearsets. Whatever I did on that bike, when I thought about it, it would do it. I laughed through every exercise and was the only instructor/student who wanted to ride it all of the time. They made get on the FLH. My first ride home on my Blast. I bought because I'd been bikeless for a year and I needed something and the dealer cut me a hell of a bargain on a retired RE bike. I thought it was a dog, but I promised the scratched and bent little Thumper "no more students" got on the highway and rode 83 mph up a mountain pass. I had to pull over on an exit ramp because I was laughing too hard with fun. I've never had another brand or bike make me feel those feelings. I'll wait and see what Erik has up his sleeve before I buy anything other than a Buell. |

My first and best experience with Buell to date... I had just met this guy I thought was a pretty damn good prospect a week earlier. I had only seen him once, but we had stayed up til sunrise sharing life stories. I was working odd hours at a bar just a few miles from home, and had arrived home after work pretty late, eager to check my messages. Sure enough, we messaged back and forth for a while until my forwardness got the better of me and I just told him that I was keen to catch up again asap. The last message read "have Buell, will travel". I heard the rumbling turn into the street about half an hour later. We sat and talked til the sun showed again, and Lemonchili and X woke the neighbourhood on their way to work. That night I gave my heart to a few things....and the rest, as they say, is history |

Definitely meeting Erik at Nick's (vegasbueller) house in Deltona (or was it Deland?) for a Buell bbq. It was a shock to see Erik just showing up after a day at the races in Daytona to hang out with the Buelligans. How many CEOs do that? |

>>>It was a shock to see Erik just showing up after a day at the races in Daytona to hang out with the Buelligans. That one goes WAY up there in terms of explaining things. Buell had just taken a gut shot, much worse than last Thursday in my mind. Erik had a dream about racing, there was no such "to be part of HD" dream . . that was business necessity. After the 4 XBRR Buell raced and fell out of the race that day Erik was scheduled to attend some high brow VIP events. It was just after dark and Vickie and I were at Nick's when my cellphone rang. It was Erik's wife asking where we were and how to get there. She said "Erik wants to be around Buell owners". Yep . . he sneaked out of the fancy dinner to be with the folks he admired the most and it showed. No excuses, no "can't comment" . . . he was brutally honest and it was easy to see that the wheels were already turning and he couldn't wait to get in his workshop pick himself up and do it again. It was nice to see him on the podium accepting a national championship this year. I suspect the pen is about to hit paper on the best Buell chapter yet. Court |

lmao, yes they have been spidey. and im to stubborn for there not to be more no matter what. you(as well as others here) always seem to manage to make me crack a smile even on some of my worst days. where/how else can you meet people maybe one time previously in your life, and then later on down the rode when they figure out your having a rough time of things get random calls and emails checking in on you. or someone that will sit on the phone with you half the night talking just so you dont feel so alone. first meeting of spidey, thinking to myself "he aint all there is he?!". maybe thats why i like ya so much. your alot like me, messed up in the head! |

Hillcountry Hellbuellies! Trills in the Hills, every year! In Austin Texas area we go to Leakey Texas in the hillcountry and live it up with our Buells! Next year will be the 10th annual! Well, thanks to the dedication of DoctorDR, Hellbuellie Extraordinaire Jay, and Grand Hellbuellie RalleyChadley the 9th sort-of-annual Thrills In The Hills Buell gathering was awesome! About 25 Buells converged on Leakey, TX at the timeless Camp Live Oak. Lots of male-bonding, eating, drinking, camp fire storytelling, and satisfying amount of riding took place. Every annual Thrills is a bit different, even though there are some very comforting constants like: - KosmicKarl's famous organic homemade margaritas - DoctorDRs fabulous BBQ Smorgasbord - RalleyChadley's Inspired and Edgy T-shirts - Camp Live Oaks ancient and hallowed cabins - The Three Sisters , the butt of many jokes! - The Mysterious Disappearing Voltar Thrills is a chance to bask in the Glory of all that is BUELL while cementing the bonds of friendship, and helping Portero72 carry his heavy sack. I am lucky to count myself as a Hellbuellie! My bro put an homage to Buell on his RDS site! http://ridedualsport.com/forum/index.php BUELL LIVES! |

A few early rememberances Meeting Erik in Daytona in 1994 at Deland and riding the S2 demo and my unauthorized wheely.. ie hop off a right hand shift 1967 Sportster and on to a left hand shift S2... The story of my first Buell ride being in the first Battle2Win magazine... Having the S2 front fairing fall off in Daytona and Buell fixing it at the demos, a lot more fun than it sounds... Being invited to Honda Hoot by Buell to do demos. Scott Miller, Scott Habengger and Rusty riding the Blue Ridge Parkway…. JB2, his Dad and Danny riding our recon BRATPAC Working quite a few Buell Demos and all the great people I met... Riding Road Atlanta doing Demos and loaning Court my S2 so he could ride it on the Road Atlanta Road course.. Having my interview and picture published for the Road Ahead the orginal BRAG/ Buell magazine in the issue after they interviewed Court The ride with Erik from into North Georgia Mountains that ended early due to an accident.. Erik had to get to the Airport so there was a very high speed Police escorted ride back to the Dealership... Interviewing and photographing the Duluth Cops with their S2t's Buells. Later on my Son's Bithday we brought one of those bikes home… March Badness and Erik at TWO during March Badness Everytime time I ran into Erik being treated like an old friend… God bless the Elves and thank you all |

Favorite Buell memories: 1) Sneaking into the Buell dealer show in Nashville to see the 1125R. Meeting Erik and crew and seeing how proud they were of the new bike. 2) Buelltoberfest and staying at C3 central. Drinking moonshine and telling jokes on the back porch of the cabin. 3) Making the 16 hour road trip to pick up my Ulysses with my wife. 4) The only time I've dragged a knee on the street (because I know better) on my Ulysses at Deal's Gap. 5) Homecoming 2006: Touring the factory and meeting the "Elves" and Dave S., watching the races with Erik and friends, getting really drunk and having a bartender lady show me her boobies. 6) Fatty, Barker, and myself representing Buell on a ride in the Smokey Mountains. It rained and was cold, but we had a great time. 7) Riding my Ulysses to Barber to camp during the AMA races 8) Passing a GSX-R1000 in the chicane and having him crash trying to catch me while I was riding the Ulysses on the track at Nashville Superspeedway 9) Buying the 1125CR I lusted after for almost a year. There are too many more to mention, but the fondest memory I have of my Buells is the way they made me feel when I rode them. The way they spoke to me. Their character. The fun. That's what it's all about. Fun. |

Buell has afforded me the opportunity to meet some of the greatest people to walk the planet. I have been so fortunate to have met so many people and get to share the Buell experience. EVERY ride has been an adventure. I'm having a tough time narrowing it down to a list of events. |

In all the years I have been on motorcycles, and all the people I have met, no bike was as satisifying as my S3 Buell or people as great as those associated with Buell. I test rode my first Buell with a great smile on my face, never had that happen before! You know, I remember getting up hours early before work just to ride my Buell, and being a pure night person, that never happened before. The Buell story is not over yet. I am sure of that. |

Riding it backstage into the Tommmy Hilfiger arena with the club and fielding Kid Rock's questions about its mileage over beers...before escorting DMC up to the stage.... ...or maybe a few years before- Riding it up to a Dead show at the Warfield in Frisco with a west coast charter, and parking it on the sidewalk in front... or maybe riding it down the cobblestoned back streets of Prague one foggy March night in '02, en route to the clubhouse, out past the gypsy section- the whores cheering the sound of the throaty american V twin bellowing through the supertrapp. or sitting in the coastal drizzle up at Woodside, across the street from Alice's, enjoying a hot coffee on a Monday morning BS-ing with a curious local... recognizing him as Neil Young after about 3 minutes. Then the ride down 84 to San Gregorio, like every Monday, was better....down through the tight twisties of Loma Vista, and then onto the wider, alluvial sweeps past the Whirled Peas Ranch, laying her low on the line past the artichoke trucks and on to the San Gregorio General store, where a a second cup of warm mud would await...just like every Monday back then, when the S2 was still young and purple, and fully-faired... too many great memories. But our Headless Horseman Runs of the past 4 years have been the most enjoyable....a crew of folks drawn together by the passion for this brand, coming from far and near to enjoy our forested twisties and riverine, colonial vistas, chasing revolutionary ghosts on our fire-breathing mounts in the land of Ichabod Crane and Rip Van Winkle when the leaves are like Indian fire. That's the best; and will continue to be, I'm certain, for years to come. Regardless of what does or doesn't happen with the company, production, etc., we'll be riding ours in the greatest company of riders on earth....each other. |

quote:. . . These things gotta happen every five years or so, ten years. Helps to get rid of the bad blood. Been ten years since the last one. You know, you gotta stop them at the beginning. talking to Erik for the first time, 20e aniversery in Hamburg.. i saw Erik, as he was checking out the cround, and walked up to him, asked him if he brought his gitar, He Smiled and said noop, we talked fo about 15 minutes as i watch the croud build up behind Erik, al waiting for signitures.. but did not dare to ask him this was the best Buell party ever !! Ranier started his stunt bike inside and smoked us all out with a burn out. party was really fun, we did sleep in Car, because the 100e harley was al so in Hamburg, no hotel chamber left for miles traveling to the states for the 25e ani. ( my first time in the USA ) meeting all off you crazie people ( witch reminds me Charlotte i still owe you some t-shirts ) spending 2 days on the track on road america ( our travel mates where bored with in 3 hours, and left ) helping out where we could, polishing tyres the 25e diner with all off you, sitting at the table with FJM, Al hearing all the old stories being told. following online they big Team Elves effort riding the rockies on one off Aaron's bikes and getting stopped over by the Law for speeding and crossing the double yellow.. the cop did not know what to do with us " stupid dutch guys "
yeah plenty good memories, but we still can make some more !! |

This photo is "Pammy Queen of the universe" and Susan "Scary Fast" Wilson, first all female race team at Bonneville:
I got the first female team from Tanis Hammond who had come over to chat, she was the first woman over 300 mph ever. Without that Buell blast I would have never met any of them and my life would have been much more limited. Being near the "Queen of the Universe" is very uplifting |
