I am as pissed at HD as everybody else is right now. However I have lost sight of one thing in the last few days. While we are waiting to see Buell up and running again on its own separate from HD ponder this. One of the reasons I looked into Buell in the first place was the powerplant. The sound, simplicity,and mystique of that V twin. The handleling looks, technology,etc are to Buells credit.EB doesnt deserve the treatment he is getting. As most of you I will not be looking at any Current or future HD models unless Buell is one of them rebadged or not. But like it or not the powerplant of the XB is a harley product and for that part of it we can never escape. I will always follow and own Buells, but will miss the days in which they were produced with "Harley" engines. | ||

That's one of the not so funny realities I was recently thinking myself but didn't want to volunteer. I always loved the exhaust sound - potato-potato-potato - they put it in a modern, light, beautiful frame and make a great thing. I also like the fact that they were air cooled. So I guess part of me likes HD, well just the engines even if they lack in certain areas. So if Buell were to move away from HD and it end up with something else as a power plant, a water cooled, Jap 4 , it would be good, but just not what I like in the first place. Maybe the XR will evolve into a Tuber when HD sees the nostalgia finally in those? I'll be the old guy driving the original antique HD powered tuber, romanticizing the-day-when. | ||

I want an XB. I like the 1125, but I want an XB. I'm conflicted. | ||

I will never be without an Xb. Fits me perfectly; does everything I want it to well; I can sit and stare at it for an hour while I drink a beer and still be amazed at the engineering that went into it. More importantly- I think about a man and his dream and what he has went through to make this bike available to me. Watching that video crushed me. Not because of the Company being closed but because of how he looked and sounded and surely felt. I know it sounds cliche and "weird" but there is so much more about the Xb than just the pieces it is made up of. I will always have mine (and more). | ||

Yes I agree. I would still love my XB if it had a V twin of some other maker in it (maybe in the future it will). I was just pointing out that for me anyway the "Harley" part of the bike, was/is part of the attraction to it. And at the time it was EB's vision to use that engine. That being said,I hope there is a way for EB to continue the Buell vision without loosing the origional concept. A simple Yet amazing machine using an Air-cooled engine, simple but using new and great technology, while still being a all around great bike. | ||

I rode the XR1200 and 1125CR and my XB9SX still does it for me. Those other machines are cool, and likely a CR would have been my next Buell, but the XB is just special. It is art and engineering. It is simple and complex, beautiful and timeless, perfectly proportioned. I just love it. --Sean | ||

Agreed: I loved the S-3 because it was the Sportster taken to the ultimate level and I loved Sportsters. My Blast is like a Sportster designed for urban renewal/assault. The XB I think is the ultimate Sporty. The Harley-based engine is what drew me and kept me. I appreciate the Rotax, but I loved the harley. That being said, I love the design in the Buells. I think I can live with whatever engine they put in them. |
