I feel hurt just like everybody else however my financial issue is also a consideration. By closing Buell they have effectively made my $11,000.00 investment worthless. No trade in for a new motorcycle. In seven years, no parts. It will basically be a doorstop! One of the reason I considered the Buell was the fact that it was owned by a big reputable company. At least when Oldsmobile closed it did not really affect parts or service. The same with my two Pontiacs. I have two kids in Collage now. Bike replacement now is not a consideration. I do feel bad for the workers at Buell, but we all are taking a financial hit on this one. |

This is a very stupid move, by an incompetent management. In the grand scheme of things, Buell didn't have any impact at all on Harley, positive or negative. It was just too small. On the other hand, spending money to shut down a profitable division does not make any business sense. I look at it as a great opportunity for Buell to be more successful without the participation of the Motor Company. It is not only stupid, but seemingly vindictive, to simply close down a division that has a lot of obvious value, instead of spinning it off to another company. Bombadier, who owns Victory and Rotax, would be one possible buyer. I wish Erik and the Elves all the best. To my brothers I say: Don't lose the faith. |

Kick 'em in the nuts, I say! Here's what I know: if HD has done what now appears to have been done, I will not ever own an HD product, in spite of my future plans to have purchased at least one. IF things are a bit different than they currently appear, for example a plan or at least an "out" in in place for BMC to somehow, in some what continue...I may reconsider the above stance. |

For as much as I identify with my Buell, I have too many friends who ride cruiser bikes to where I saw me purchasing one in the near future. I really liked the the looks and what I've read about the new Triumph Thunderbird. But I felt like I should buy an H-D, just to "keep it in the family". Guess what? Thunderbird, here I come! |

Here's what makes me sick. 2 weeks ago at the Harley Museum, all they ranted about was how Buell brought a championship home to Harley. And the topper?? Ritchie Morris getting a HD Museum pass for giving said museum one of Eslick's race bikes. RMR....take that bike back. |

Not going to take the time to "bash" HD (HD bashers are a bore) HOWEVER not likely to buy a new one. If I ever get another scooter going to do what I planned on doing before discovering the Ulysses - Going to find a restored "classic" - Thinking an Airhead BMW |

Guess what? Thunderbird, here I come! Before you pull the trigger on the T-bird, take a look at the Yammi Raider..... you'll be doing yourself a favor if you do. For a cruiser, its a nice bike and not at a crazy price point. |

I'm keeping my XB for the long-haul. The XB will the Sunday driver, now an instant classic. Less interest than ever in riding a Harley. Back to the Japanese stuff for my other rides, it's always performed great and been reliable. |

I've always said, "I love my Harley, but I fear upper management" and decisions like this reinforce my opinion of the MoCo... I won't spend another dime at any H-D dealership, unless it's on Buell clearance items... I just hope Erik and Co. can find a way to keep making the fine motorcycles that we love... |

The MoCo made a decision. If it's the right or wrong decision remains to be seen. If it was based purely on business reasons or if there is something more remains to be seen as well. What happens next has the potential to be very interesting. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Erik can turn lemons into lemonade. |

I was a little concerned when they went outside the company for the latest CEO. Didn't he come from Johnson Controls, a Detroit automaker supplier? |

after mulling on the events of the day ( Ive done maybe 1/2 hour of productive work today ) some things jump out at me. reading information Court has posted in Court in session leads me to think that some information is missing, what were buells earnings or losses. this period and then last. I understand Focusing on what your best at We saw the hardys fast food chanin do that here by narrowing the menu, and building a rather tasty and unhealthy thick burger, many other items were removed from the menu, some like the chicken stayed, it for the most part seems to have worked. Where did they "the board" get that HD is appealing to many younger folks? Most younger folks I know are trying to raise kids and or are not well established enough to have the means to afford a new bike (think harley prices), further many are much more credit / money savvy and will not be willing to use HDMC credit. the ones that will in the few that I have listened to could be considered bad risks. Like hardys focusing on what you are good at is a great idea, however they should pickup on the cue, hardys did not drop fried Chicken, they reduced the number and type of avaialable side dishes, and other sandwhiches. I guess If I want chicken I will look else where, from my prospective with almost no facts, it appears that HD upper management has cast off buell at a significant loss when the production could have been cut and the work force reduced, or idled for periods of time, in some respects it also appears that there may have been other issues in play ( corperate infighting ) not facts mind you but interesting supposition, to be pondered from the porch.
