Well two weeks from today my wife and I will be at the dragon!!!!We are really looking forward to this trip. It will be our first trip for motorcycling. If anyone in the area is bored and wants to go riding with us and wants to play tour guide you are more than welcome!!We are staying in Robbinsville, NC Friday and Saturday and driving home Sunday. Short stay but it will have to do for now. Drop me a line if you are interested. Paul

If you are going to do the dragon, you might as well stay right there at the Deals Gap Motorcycle Resort.

That way you are right at the start of the Gap, and near other roads too. Lovely downtown Robbinsville is some distance away.

Here is a good web site for the Dragon, just in case you don't have it already.

Ride safely, and be sure to take a couple of slow runs up and down the dragon before you get too frisky. It is a pretty tight and complicated bit of road. An old cow trail as legend has it.

Robbinsville is not too far away John. And the ride up to the Dragon is superb if done correctly! It also puts you at the base of the Cherohala, and going as a couple, I can tell you it is much quieter. You might even have to sample the 'fried ice cream' at Linda's restaurant.

You could have had fried ice cream at El Pacifico, where we ate lunch. They have it too.

Cherry Cola and fried ice cream? does sound like a good enough excuse for another road trip.

Jjjd you should be hitting the changing of leaf color about perfectly... that can be a good thing if your into it, but can also put a bit more traffic in the area. Have a ball and "Welcome to our backyard".

One thing to consider. All leaves sticking on the road are wet leaves = mud/ice. There will be lots of leaf lookers, so make sure they see you, eye contact is good. Have a great time!
