Need some assistance from the more experienced people (virtually all of you lol). Got a Vega V-Tune Bluetooth helmet. Well, finally got music loaded onto my phone (Voyager) and turned the volume all the way up on the phone and all the way up on the helmet. Can barley hear the music over my Jardine-equipped XB9R. Only time I can hear is at stoplights, and even then barley. Can't really hear phone calls well either.... So if theres not a solution seems like I wasted my money. Emails to Vega have gone unanswered (great customer service there, Arai would've gotten back to me). Its stereo speakers, AD2P profile bluetooth. Thinking about maybe using an audio editor to increase volume of the Mp3s? Haven't even tested the Ipod Bluetooth transmitter yet, don't wanna waste $$ if I can't hear it anyways. Any audio/bluetooth philes got advice? Need my tunes while riding!!

Return the helmet and invest in a Cardo Scala Rider Q2 headset. Much better in my oppinion and it gets VERY loud. No problem talking on the phone or listening to tunes at 80mph.

get some earplugs.

seriously. they will block out the ear damaging noise of the pipe and the wind and let enough of the music through. the only thing you can do without earplugs is get louder and louder music...which will damage your hearing more and more.

I have heard that riding with earplugs is illegal in some states/localities. It's stupid and ignorant, but that's the law.

So many earplugs to choose from.....

Hoot, think stereo speakers might be illegal to. But of course I'm only riding my Firebolt "offroad" ; )

My want to experiment with the speaker placement too. Moving them a few mm can make a huge difference.

Thanks for help guys. Narrowed down some options

-earplugs
-repacking the jardine (makes it quieter, right?)
-audio editor to increase volume of MP3s (although the helmet and phone might limit that) and could be bad for my ears

You could try a "BoostaRoo" audio amplifier between the mp3 player/phone and helmet.

There are various helmet speakers out there and some are louder or better in sound quality than others. Check Aerostich RiderWareHouse Audio Helmet Speaker or Mixers and Amps section for ideas and to compare with what you currently have.

+1 on speaker placement. Ideally you want them placed lightly against your ears to provide the best sound transfer but not so close that they create pressure or irritation.

Thanks for link Sparky. Well I feel dumb... get Jardine off, NO packing whatsoever. No wonder the rivets snapped. Its just the can, and perforated tube inside. Thats it. No wonder it was so damn loud and maybe thats why I've hit "dead spots" and some hesitation sometimes.

I've got the Cardo Scala FM, and earplugs do help a LOT with being able to hear the music. My D&D, however, makes phone conversations next to impossible. Oh well, I don't wanna talk while riding anyway!

FYI, it's illegal in most states to have speakers in both sides of your helmet (doesn't stop me) but I've never heard of ear plugs being against the law.

EVERYTHING you need to know.

"Custom Made" earplugs are "SUPPOSEDLY" exempt.

Skull Candy headsets will be the best of both worlds. My latus pipe is loud as hell inside my helmet. The Skull Candy headsets block the incoming noise and feed you music at a safe volume level. They are pretty comfortable too. There are many different brands besides them also, thats just the one I have. I started with a 40cent pair of earbuds off of ebay. They work also but the sound quality isnt as good.

Thanks for all the tips yall!

this is what I have http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/38/19868/ ITEM/Vega-V-Tune-Bluetooth-Solid-Helmet.aspx

RPM- heard nothing but good things about Skull Candy, but trying to use what I got! If worse comes worse I'll have to abandon the helmets Bluetooth and get some of those.
