I just got back from a tour around town.
Things are staring to calm down a little bit, but you can tell all we need is a little bit to set everything back.
It's unreal.

Can you believe on the news last night, a news alert said just that.
It's been the wettest year we've had in 10 years.
After 7 days of solid rain, and within the last 24 hours we get almost 24 inches.
Drought's over.
Ya think? |

Not trying to be a smart ass but did all this fill Lake Lanier back up?, or is most of it going to runoff into the rivers and bypass the lake? Last I heard it was like 15-20 feet below where it should be.
It will probably be a week or so before the water gets down to my neck of the woods. They are already preparing for the rivers flooding in the FL panhandle as all that water moves south. We've had plenty of rain ourselves, just NOTHING like what you all have had.

Lanier is about 4 feet below full pool.
They've let the gates open so it'll not get to full.
The other lakes are full though, some a foot or so above, but not at flood stage.

Well, at least ther is some good outta all this mess.
I was talking with a buddy from up there and we were talking about how bad it coulda been if the lakes had already been full. |

According to the news, today was our first day of sunshine in 9 days.
This was the saddest story I've heard of the floods:
Fourteen year old boy drowned when he tried to jump into the current to help someone out of a submerged jeep, the jeep was actually empty.

WOW I grew up a bout a mile from Lilburn Square, and know folks that live near the lanier dam tward Buford.
so the lake is about 4' down now thats better for now, I am sad to see the flooded homes and ruined cars |

Today I was in Flowery Branch, and Suwanee.
They didn't get it too bad at all.
Tomorrow I'll be in Canton and Alpharetta, I expect they'll be ok as well.
Hardest hit is Douglasville.
A friend of mine is still stuck at home because of road wash outs and bridges being either gone or unsafe.
We still have a few bridges closed.
I certainly hope we dry out soon.
Yesterday and today were extra nice.
Saturday may be another storm 
I've never seen so much blight and mushrooms. |
