Unless he's moved, that isn't Slowride.

Someone needs to help that guy move off the seat before he low sides that thing.

Not very good body position.

Hard to see his body with the saddle bags and tail bag. I like the sparkies though. The little ones are ok, the big ones not ok.

Nope, FT_bstrd is right... I am a Texas boy. I got to do this on the Uly last year at Buelltoberfest II, but like FTB was saying I was off the seat and still touched the bags down.

I will be there this year on the KLR with 80/20 tires. I am not sure what it will handle like as I don't have corners like this in Texas. So the first day or so will be experimental.

Hey Micah - Are you mapping out some good rides? I'm sure you can still out ride this flat lander from FL, 80/20 tires or not.

I just picked up a cheap Lifan 200cc dual sport bike. Was thinking about throwing it in the back of the pickup along with the Uly and see if I could find some cool dirt roads around Suches while I'm there.

Adrian,
Funny you should mention that...

I found this map and I have been exploring some possible (Uly/Dualsport) routes for this trip.

I generally keep the Uly on paved surfaces. I assume the brown traces on your map are dirt roads. I may just bring the little dual sport then.

Adrian,
Bring both~! I will be running two of the loops I ran last year, specifically the Helena run that we got booted off of due to the wreck on the mountain. My father will be comin on the sporty and he has heartburn just riding it down the dirt to the camp site, LOL. So, I will be doing those long runs on the pavement. I was exploring the map because I wanted to take one day and run some of the back roads from TWO to Iron Mountain and back and as you can see some of the route is on pavement.

Hell, I might get booted off the brown or green lines depending on what those roads are used for.

your going to have to pick up the pace if you expect me to ride along! the 9 and the 1125 both much prefer triple digit dirt road running. they arent much for cruising... : )

now if i have to start jumping big logs then i may have a bit of a problem.

The last time I did 80mph on the dirt is was on the Uly and a gravel hard pack road.

I haven't had the KLR up to those speeds on the dirt yet.

Heheeh, it might be another interesting Buelltoberfest!

Adrian,
btw I will be camping at TWO myself. Hope to see ya there.

If I bring the Lifan, it won't do 80 mph (dirt or street).

Micah,
Does TWO have a snoring section?

I found this map
Slowride
I need to know about that map, and if there are more like it.
I went up from 411 to Georgia's highest lake a while back. Very pretty country. I would have surely died if I was on my M2. The roads I was on were loose gravel, crooked washboards. My truck was skeetering pretty good.
Maybe the Blast, it's easy to pick up.

I was intrigued by all the roads up there, and have meant to go back.
The maps are confusing, the roads and maybe some mountains have different names.
I hope to get time to scout them all one of these days.

Rozaruck,
I found the map using Cooliris searching for pictures of Suches,GA. Many of you know I am a wannabe photog and I do these types of searches randomly. Anyway, I found the map doing one of my random searches. It turns out the maps came from a Mountain bike / Hiking site on the web for GA. The brown lines on the map, I am pretty sure are like the Farm Roads we have here in TX. The green lines are what I don't know about right now. The site I found it on makes no distinction on the colors.

I can shoot you the site if you like.

So it looks like we have 3 at least for a dualsport run up to Iron Mountain and back.

Any others want to ad their name to the list?

I am working on a GPS track for the route and I can convert it to most formats(gpx, etc) if you want to add the route into your unit.

I would like to have that, I'll send you a link to directions to some of the lakes up there. It might fill in some missing pieces.
"Cohutta Death March" OH MAN!
I spent part of a night in the Cohutta Post Office once, it sure wasn't up there!

Oh My. I need a dualsport. And some legs.

Slowride, in case you're not aware, some of the very BEST twisties in Texas are a little west of Bandera.
The "Three Sisters" (or "Twisted Sisters" or just "the 3s"), RR 335, 336, and 337 are awesome, lightly-traveled roads around Leakey, Texas
(TX 16 out of Kerrville is pretty fun too, as are TX 55 and RR 674 out of Rocksprings). The Hillcountry HellBuellies will be there for our 9th(?) annual Thrills In The Hills ride during the last weekend in September.
You can loves you some serious lean out there! Sorry to hijack the thread (no I'm not! I'm glad I did it! Mwahhhhahhaahh! ).

Slowride,
The green lines may denote the Appalachian Trail. I haven't seen the map, so I can't say for sure.

If that is what it is, be sure to avoid it on the bike. No bikey, only hikey

Although I have not been on all of the roads around Cohutta, I can say that for the most part the green lines on the map are mostly gravel or rough pavement. The Cohutta Death March is a long hiking and bicycle trail around the Cohutta Wilderness Area. The map posted by Slowride can be a bit confusing as it is not to scale and may not show exact locations for all areas.
If you want to see a fairly decent map of this area google Ellijay,GA and find some satellite images of the surrounding area.
