the GF and myself have the blockbuster service.

The nice thing about the BB service is you can take your movies back to the store. This is the same as mailing them back which means the main hub send out the movies in your que faster, you also get a free dvd rental in return. You do have to return that dvd back to said BB but it is free and does not count toward your dvd count on your account.

i have netflix...never had the blockbuster service so I can't really say if it's good or bad...but for me the return/free rental thing is kinda defeating the purpose. I have the service so i don't have to go to a store and be disappointed that nothing is in or their selections don't interest me. For me that extra part is just unnecessary...

just my $0.02

Netflix - in SF its like next day, no hassles, no muss, fuss, etc - pick and forget about it - no lines, or DVD always not there - did Blockbuster for years - Netflix is better. Good CS as well.

I've had good luck with BB. I like being having the storefront option too, and they also give coupons for free rentals in the stores. Shipping is pretty much problem free, and the price is way cheap.

I use Blockbuster and in my opinion it is much better. If you don't like going to the store you can still mail them back. If you have the "three at a time" plan, and manage to watch, say, six a week, that's 24 movies a month. You get another FREE movie when you turn them in at the store, which would make 48. Plus, a movie coupon which makes 49. That comes out to 36 cents per rental...36 CENTS!!!

Netflix charges the exact same monthly rate for the three at a time plan, and you get no freebies. Plus you have to wait for your movie to get shipped back before your next one comes. With Blockbuster, your next movie is sent when you turn it in at the store, so they come quicker in the mail. Netflix may have better service, but for max value, go with Blockbuster.

I have netflix, because I have never liked going in to blockbusters. Maybe it is just the stores near me, but I just don't care for inside blockbusters.

>>>return/free rental thing is kinda defeating the purpose

You don't have to go back to the store, you just get a bonus if you do.

I have Netflix. It works out pretty good. We usually receive them the day after they are shipped out. We have the 3 at a time plan and they let you split it up into like sub-accounts. I have 2 at a time on one queue for my wife and I and let me daughter have a separate queue that only lets her check out G or PG movies. I can individually override the parental control with a password to let her rent a PG-13, if I think it is appropriate for her.

I have Netflix because I don't want to go to the store, so the BB service offers no incentive for me. There is a Netflix hub here in town, so the ship time is only 2 days round trip usually. Also had good experience with their customer service on the couple of times I got a wrong disc or a return was delayed in the mail. I also like not aiding the movie monopoly (Blockbuster, which is also owned by Viacom I believe).

I am finding it impossible to even imagine having the time to watch 24 movies a month! (Much less 48 or 49!)

If you're not actually snowed in, as I'm sure some of our badwebbers are, git yer ass off the couch and get busy, ya bunch of lazy louts!

(Sorry - just had to chime in on this)

Netflix. Go to blockbuster down the street occasionally. We have 1 -2 day turn around on our netflix movies.

Netflix.

Great selection of Blu-ray movies also, which the stores around here dont stock yet.

I figure that if I wanted to go to the video store to return or get movies, then why would I pay for the mail service? Also the BlockBuster near me closed.

Have had Netflix for a while. Long before BB decided to offer the same service. Good turnaround times.
