Well .. I put the deposit on the 97 S1 ... should pick it up either at the end of this week or the beginning of next ... the Blast is on the Bay and looks like it will do well ... All is good ... only had to sell 2 of my BMW cars and my Honda motorcycle ... but I get nearly 6 grand after buying the S1 .. win win situation as far as I'm concerned !! I will post pictures when I get it in my posSession and figure out my plans for it ... Brian 99 M2 97 S1 (to be a tricked out S1) (Message edited by tattoodnscrewd on January 16, 2007) |

Not too many 10 year old motorcycles are still something special - the S1 certainly is. What other 10 year old bike still illicits such passion for the breed? |

There are tons of older bikes of all types and makes that have very passionate followings. |

KZ750-R1 (GPz) still gets me goin'. That and the Eddie Lawson Replica. I believe the S1 will stand the test of time. My alter ego emerges every time I roll it out to ride. |

The V-MAX probably has the biggest following of any motorcycle I've ever known. |

Yeah.. I would agree with the V-Max. It's like a Cult. Along with the tdm also. |

So back to the Buell... If I wasn't able to buy a new Buell, an S1 would have been tops on my list. I feel like it's just one of the quintessential models in Buell tube-fram family. The X1 is nice (and admittadly is the bike that got me into Buells in the first place), but the S1 was first and just appears to be a more simple, raw machine. Have fun with it, and get some damn pics up already! |

The X1 is a nice bike .. and I am able to buy an XB, I just prefer the tubers ... and the S1 has the most attitude even when it's just sitting still IMO ... The guys at Hal's where I bought the S1 are anxious to see what I am going to do with this bike considering what I've done with my M2 and how nice a bike it is .. Needless to say I am way excited to get this thing home... had it running when I went to fill out the paperwork today, the thing sounds nasty with that Force exhaust, sounds like drag pipes, louder than the Pro Series I have on my M2 .. I dig it !!! Now these shots are before shots .. I will be changing quite a few things (air cleaner, turn signals, bars ... etc..) My M2 is an somewhat aggressively comfortable bike, with accessories to make it good for longer rides, inverted forks for the fun rides ... Now this S1 - I am not even thinking about comfort, this will be a plain and simple badass bike when I am done ... at least that is the plan. ok - on to the pics from Hal's website ...

tattood, looks like you and I were thinking the same. I originally wanted an XB9 but ended up with a 97 S1 just a couple months ago. Im very happy with the decision and love the looks and grunt of this bike. Mine looks just like yours for the most part.

Yours looks much cleaner I'd say .. but I own a detailing business and anyone that has seen my M2, or seen my work as a few here have .. they know what I can do over a weekend... Unfortunately, with having done a front end swap on my M2, picking up a Corbin seat, and having done tons of other stuff to the M2 this year ... picking up a 2nd bike was a hard enough sell for my wife, nevermind what I plan to do to it ... But I will find a way ... I will clean it up, and see what I have to work with, and start swapping parts that don't belong... etc etc etc....... Who knows - a good detailing can work wonders ... Thanks for the words everyone ... (Message edited by tattoodnscrewd on January 17, 2007) |

That is why I bought my M2 instead of an S1 when I did .. can't not buy a 99 M2 with only 1758 miles .... for only $3500 a year ago !! I t worked out.. got this S1 for about the same ... things just seem to work out sometimes ! The way I see it - I sold 2 BMW cars .. one I've had for 7 years, sold my Honda Shadow ACE 1100 .. I couldn't get rid of 3 toys and have nothing to show for it !!! I tried to tell her it's no different than me buying BMW's (we had 4 of them until yesterday) .. but then again - she wasn't too thrilled about me buying a bunch of cars either ... lol oh well , what are ya gonna do !? |

and the S1 has the most attitude even when it's just sitting still I could not agree more. I am hoping to pick one up in the next year as a second bike. I love my XB but the S1 is just plain cool. |

rt ... the guys in our former BRAG group pick on me all the time ... we did the Breast Cancer Ride last year and it was raining, so of course my bike was filthy - they really let me have it .. the next day for the Slimey Crud Run, Bomber and company would have never believed I ride that bike all the time, nevermind riding in the rain the day before !! ... (it doesn't hurt that I own a detailing business www.cleanestcars.com) This is my M2 in it's usual state - not dirty, but not clean by my standards ...(yes - I know there is no front fender - there is now, the photo was after the X1 fork swap)

Tat's M2 was pristine when I first saw it (the day ofter the Rain Ride!) -- I'd drag my motor pool up to him for attention, cept I'm not convinced they'd run right that clean -- it's all in what you're used to, ain't it? |

Yeah, Brian just looks at my bikes, and cringes... I'm not one to spend much time cleaning 'em. And since I ride year 'round, they tend to be a tad dirty now and then. But now I trade Brian billet goodies for a clean & detailed bike You look at Brian's M2, it looks better than new. He's great with a buffer, just keep him away from taps |

Steve ......... SHADDUP !!! about the tap !!! See now if you had that piece done and on the bike noone would be any wiser !!! Thanks guys, I appreciate the compliments in regards to my work .. it's one of them things I take a lot of pride in, and I'm glad it can be appreciated by those in need of a good detailing ... Bomber ... didn't you hear ?!?! When I am done your bike will be faster !! (Less drag, less wind resistance ... smoother than a baby's bottom, ask Mxer83 .. he knows first hand .. I'm sure he'll tell ya ! |
