Buell is going to discontinue the XB9R Firebolt for 2008. I have one left in stock. I may be able to get a couple more? Get them while you can. |

does this mean we might be getting a smooth revving short stroke 12cc or bigger displacement engine for the next round of Firebolts?? The only reason I didn't get a bolt when I had the chance is cause I want one that's smooth like the 9 but with the grunt of the 12. As soon as they offer this I'll start saving the pennies again. I do like the Lightnings the way they are though. IMOHO, Long stroke characteristics compliment the Lightning well. The Firebolt on the other hand needs to be smooth and suave. |

Thanks Cochise, it can be mistaken with the name like Dana.LOL But that's ok John I won't call Erik over that one. See what I'm saying though?? Dave is a sponsor of this board and one of top selling Buell salesmen and dealer in the country. |

What 9 is left anymore but the City? Will the City be going away too? I really like the 9, but if there was a smoother 12, I guess I wouldn't mind. --Sean |

New for 2008, the XB9.1R! Come on folks, it's probably just a new version release. |

Dave didn't say they are discontinuing the "9". He said they are discontinuing the XB9R. Just that. Just the R. That's all he said. 1 bike. 1 bike. 1 bike. I'm sure the City isn't going anywhere. |

Wow, that's a serious bummer. The 9 motor is so much smoother than the 12. I have tried riding a few 12's, and they just run so rough down low that it makes them annoying to ride. Erik better have a super-sweet replacement coming out in 08, or else I will have to shop elsewhere for my grunty v-twin sportbike. My plan was to buy an XB9R in 08 or so. I guess I could probably still get a used one, so not all hope is lost. |

I believe that rough stuff you are talking about down low is called TORQUE. Shucks, I have an 88" that runs as smooth as a 9 motor, and it pulls a lot harder than any 12 from 2,000 to 7,000 RPM. I am underwhelmed by the 9 in a sportbike...it feels pretty anemic to me, but I am spoiled. I have always asked myself why Buell even designed it. If they had just upped the bore to 3.813 and kept that short stroke (3.125), it would have been a bitchin' motor. Of course, there are kits that will do just that. jimidan (Message edited by jimidan on January 05, 2007) |

Here's how I see it... In the Ss series... 1 bike. In the City X series.... 1 bike. In the blast series... 1 bike. Now as far as the Uly series... 1 bike. Buell's new attempt at "supermoto"... 1 bike. To me, there's just no shock that they are going to just one bike in the R series. Stick with the 12R. What I think they will do, is still keep a 900 class (984, I know, I know) but just do a redesign of that bike. Maybe a XB9RR. |

I bet the 9R came out at a "price point" to get the XB out in the market. There has to be far more profit in a 12R with it's higher price and the bikes are proving themselves in the market as being a solid platform. My guess is they don't feel they need to be at that price point any longer with the R series bike. And "smooth" comes from the riders right hand. |

Well, I have a 07 12R, and although I love it, I'm hoping that they are going to come out with something with more torque / power. The 1098 looks soooo nice.... If they come out with something more "modern", I'll be the first one waiting to purchase it.

I'm liking my 9R--I had a chance to buy a 12R instead, but I bought the 9 for various reasons (price and insurance being two of 'em). I've ridden both, and am totally happy with my 9R. Personally, I think discontuing the 9R is a mistake--but then again, I'm sure there are valid marketing reasons for doing so. |

A short-stroke 1200 makes a lot of sense in for the R model, since it's the more race inspired bike. The long stroke suites the hooligan attitude of the S models. If they were going to introduce it, it would be cool to basically merge the XB9R and XB12R into just the singular XB12R short stroke. Maybe they'll flesh it back out by offering a XB12Rs (long). |

I won't miss 'em. A bit too wheezy for me tastes. A 1200 with a 7500 RPM rev limit would rock. |

So, is the Blast on the books for next year? Or did it get dropped [too] like some speculated? |

Isn't the Blast the only bike in the HD/Buell lineup that DOESN'T have EFI now? I'd say it's probably due for an update after 7 years now |
