Who would have guessed that a square jawed, bullet heaeded guy could create such a tempting scenario?
Well, when it comes to mountains, and motorcycles, it just comes naturally!
plans are afoot!
Good news!
Steve, you ought to try and make it as well.

Glitch,

would love to... But unfortunately, our schedules, and having a 5 year old don't work out too well yet for longer motorcycle trips.

I guess that's the perils of having a wife that also rides. But I wouldn't trade it for anything...

Steve...Your new bike is safe. Well, at least from me. Too cold and damp to go riding.

Glitch...Just by merit of the frames, you know the TT will out handle the XR1200 and I am confident that isn't the only difference.

Bomber...Will be interesting to see what all can be ripped off the XR1200 to lighten it up. Not to mention what goodies the Aftermarket will cook up.

Incidentally, were you playing the "Old and Treacherous" card with the guy on the Kaw?

Outie -- nossir -- a group of silly flatlanders and chessehead decided that it would be amusing to follow me during last autumn's Slimey Crud Run -- no doubt to have a relaxing ride in the country at a middle aged pace, rather than a balls-to-the-wall sprint to Leland . . .

As is my custom, I took a slightly revised route, trying to find yet another entertaining path from hither to yon -- armed with both a paper navigational aid (read: map), and the GPS which is so much smarter than I am I don't know which questions to ask it, I turned North on a likely looking township road -- both paper and electronic tools showed this road dumping us on County C near Leland, our desired destination.

When I turned, I head-checked and saw all 10-12 or our ducks in sight, so I motored on confident of not having left any troops on the field (a sin of the highest magnatude).

20 mintues later, the "road" had deteriorated from 2 lane blacktop, to two lane broken blacktop, to 2 lane gravel, to 2 rut gravel, whereupon it turned northeast and into a dirt goat path at the same time.

You've been on this road, or it's brother.

Note that neith nav aid foretold of this surface change.

SO, I did what any self-respecting rider would do -- I turned around (while there were a number of Ulys in the group, and the MaDuece COULDA gotten through, we also had some riders of lesser experience with us, I and HATE watch wobbling and falling in the mirror).

anyways, upon reversing my field, I see NOT 10-12 bikes, bur mebbe 20 or so -- seemed a number of riders decided that they'd follow the folks who CLEARLY knoew where they were going -- sadly, they picked us.

I'm laughing, with my flip face helmet open, and apologizing to all and sundry for leading them astray, did I mention I was laughing? THe Buellers were also laughing.

The new kids were, however, not amused, and I was the receipiant of a number of baleful glares, rude gestures, and wishes of ill portent. THe Kaw rider was one of the former. He was not amused.

ah well -- I had fun ;-}

Hilarious photo on the new seat. The lightning long seat from on the TT felt a hell of a lot better for my 30 inch inseam on the demo. Super plush feel in the suspension. Also demoed a cg, night and day difference.

Cityxslicker,

Kofi Annan thinks your TT theme is unfortunate. It is clearly a nationalistic American bike that intends to invade other countries and dominate them.

Buell outta my uteris!!

I think he's just indicating where the parts have come from. Oh wait it's missing some of those red flags with little stars on them.

Bomber...Great story and you are correct I have been down those type roads. In fact, I crave them. Tis the reason for my lust for the XR or TT.

Steve...Actually it is the combination of Cold and Damp that gets me. Unfortunately, you may discover what I mean in another 10 or 20 years.

Its a flying tiger scheme from the P-40s from S China in WWII. And that is the full extent of my artistic skills. Never said I was a graphic design artist, but I do know how to use a box of crayons. :P
