Send 'em all! Besides the big money shots we'll also be filling up another collage. I think Dave Gess said that in order to get a full page photo quality print, we need at least a 5 mega pixel class shot. One request please for everyone sending photos, please provide credits for who took the photo(s) and verify we have permission to use them. I'll be following up on the couple dozen or so that make it onto the big pic pages, but it would help if everyone could be thinking of the ownership and authorizatio issue ahead of time. Y'all have already swamped me with over a hundred photos, some are literally breathtaking, like Rocco's Buells and flags photo up above. Please tell me we can get a full size high res original of that Rocco. |

You better be careful, Rice. It looks like the Terminator's middle finger is about to turn into a spike. |

Attention hotmail and other free email service users: Apparently hotmail and possibly other, not gmail though, free emailing services will shrink down photos. Hotmail will send then through unmolested at file attachments but not as photos in the body of the email. We want 'em BIG! Thanks! |

Peter, I'll rescan your online collection and let you know. You are one of the rare responders to my earlier plea for calendar pics, so I have some already. But please do send more! |

>>>>I'll ask Jack to send it. A year ago, when the dog was the model of canine responsibility, that may have worked. But since he got sucked into the club scene. . . well, he's been a "whole New Jack". I've but fond memories of the cute pup he once one. They are erased, haven given way to be-bop-pup and "Beagle Blues". It's frickin' unbelievable. I'm the sole harbinger of adult responsibility in my house. So, in addition to serving a a moral compass for wayward friends I now have frickin' dog on my hands that came home with a poodle, wearing a "doo" and 4 fishnets with garters in the wee hours last night. I'm a victim!

Thanks, Rocket. My neighbors got a good laugh watching me lay on my stomach in the middle of the culdesac to get that angle. |

Jack is cool! Chase, You have four weeks. No worries. But, the sooner the better. By that time I plan to have the bulk of the layout complete. The response has been surprisingly good. I am burried in Buell photos! Thanks to all who have and plan to submit photos. The contest is on for the prestigious cover bike! We already have a half dozen that are contenders. Chase and Dago have discovered one of the more flattering camera angles for shooting a Buell. Any photog enthusiasts here care to offer hints and suggestions about lighting, framing and background/composition, please do! |

Important, for anyone who has submitted photos but not included the required info (see list in red atop page) please get back to me with that. An email reply to our existing correspondence would be most appreciated for that. This keeps everything in one spot. Somewhere Henrik is smiling. |

As far as shooting advice, I'm a videographer by profession, so I guess I can offer some. Low angles are the most dramatic, as you will notice from the existing pics in this forum. Try not to shoot in the middle of the day; the overhead sun creates harsh shadows. The most dramatic times to shoot are at sunrise/sunset, the "Golden Hour." But of course, you may want the effect of the shadows. If you're familiar with depth of field in your lens, shoot with a wider open iris - it will cause the background to be out of focus and your subject will stand out. As far as shot composition, that is subjective and is up the the shooter. They may want to include foreground objects, or have the bike off to one side, etc. The shooter will have the best judgment of composition. Also, try shooting close ups of different parts of the bike. Those shots may convey more of the bike's "character" than a general wide shot. If you have access to filters, use polarizers to make the clouds and the sky richer in detail and color. Gradient color filters will also make the sky richer and darker in color and cause the bike to stand out. Try to place the bike in an environment that you want to convey as the bike's personality. Example: an old tube-framed Buell sitting in a rough-looking city alley. And don't forget the beauty of black and white photos! Hope these ideas help. |

I'll bet I could snag the cover . . . but, I'd have to get permission to use the picture. Unlikely.

Glen, Thank you for the excellent photog tips! Those deserve a permanent place somewhere prevalent for folks to see. Court, The calendar won't hit the streets for a couple months... By then, surely you'll have conjured a story to wiggle out of trouble. |
