Cowboy: Where in hell is global warming when you need it Snow in Texas IS due to Global Warming. The big misconception about Global Warming is that the result is slightly warmer temperatures all the time. That's not how it works. Sure, the average global temperature, annually is only a few degrees higher. But the true affect of this is that there is vastly more energy in the atmosphere which amplifies weather patterns. So, while your summer may be hotter, your winter could just as easily be colder, and generally all your storms will be more intense. Witness the record snowfall last winter across Europe that was collapsing roofs and buildings, and the flooding in Maine last spring, and recently the bizarre rainfall in the Pacific Northwest - normally they get 5 inches, but this year they got 15 - and then half a foot of snow and ice on top of it. Hope you enjoyed that snow. We had 12 inches in Minnesota about 3 weeks ago, and we didn't even close schools.... We just got up early, shoveled out our driveways and drove to work... LOL. Haven't you been paying attention..? All the cold weather IS CAUSED BY GLOBAL WARMING As a matter of fact, now the new catch phrase is 'Sudden Climate Change'.. (due to global warming).. and it's responsible for all the cold, hot, wet, windy, dry weather as well as ALL storms and hurricanes and halitosis in parrots and gas prices and the Taliban being persecuted and the XBRR not coming out sooner and grey hair on cats as well as teen pregnancy, drug abuse, freezer burn and apathy.. I'm sure the list goes on.. But what's the use.. ? |

It's currently 64F in Frederick MD, and very windy! Wish I'd gotten home early to get the last warm ride in for this year. Let's see what tomorrow brings...It'll be a drastic change no doubt. At least we're not expecting snow. I never gave a rat's azz about snow 'til I got my Buell. |

No pics here Blake, just watch Weather channel, I-80 in LaSalle county where I'm at was a big parking lot yesterday. Me I spent 14 hours behind the wheel of my truck PLOWING snow. Sorry no traction grips, drummer, racekit, just good ole Chevy power And that snow was the heaviest I have ever plowed, the sleet and rain were soaked in it, but the torque of the 6.0 just pushed the snow. How many days until Bikeweek???? Or the IMS show? Or maybe stud the Uly tires and ride! |

Awww.... I feel sorry for you guys. On the plus side, today is my birthday and it's the very first birthday I've had where there hasn't been a high temperature of 2 degrees, or less. Probably the best present that I can think of. My mom called me this morning telling me that it's zero back home in Iowa, but here it's just about perfect... a sunny 66 degrees. Too bad riding motorcycles here is completely out of the question, it'd be suicide in the streets of Cairo! |

hey prez - i'm in tulsa too! i've been driving for 800 miles so far in the "thick of it" left milwaukee yesterday, around 6pm, due to being snowed in. no freakin plows on the residential streets til afternoon. and i'm in a rental PT Cruiser.... drove for 8 hours and stayed in springfield, IL (ahem, thats only 260 miles away from milwaukee after 8 hours of driving). i drove through some CRAP. the power outages caused by ice in central IL and st louis MO area filled all the hotels, something like 320,000 without power just in st louis? took calls to 20+ hotels and in-person pleading at 3 hotels, and then finally, some dog smuggling (pets not allowed, but i wasnt going to leave my dog in the car in single digit weather!) and $100 for me to get a room in springfield, IL.... got up today, hit the road, made it through st louis and into oklahoma - made a reservation in oklahoma city. then traffic stopped almost completely for 2 HOURS on interstate 44. semi-truck wreck/fatality that closed 1.5 lanes of the 2 lanes with traffic inching by on the barely plowed shoulder. only made it to tulsa. on the happy side, got some great pics of trees with sparkly ice all over them in central IL....and had my most favorite in the world kind of enchiladas at abuelo's tonight.
