Come to Iowa instead, that's where I do all my hunting.
You can still take an hour per week and shoot the bow.
Cheap pastime.

Daves says, "Come to Iowa instead, that's where I do all my hunting."

I just finished 6 days of deer hunting (rifle season) in Northern Wisconsin and didn't see even a bambi! The Wisconsin DNR (do nothing rangers) sure have screwed-up the deer hunting area where I go with all the wolves they have released there. I would hunt in Illinois if they had a rifle season. I don't care for shotgun hunting.

deer season? Primative weapons started in september. riffle started in the begining of oct. I've seen a few but nothing to shoot at. I have worked a ton of wrecks involving deer though. You should see what happens to a car going approx 75mph on I-75 when it hits a rather large 8 pointer.

That's one of the reasons I bowhunt(besides it is the most challenging way to kill a deer)
I get to hunt from Oct 1st til the end of Nov. Then the shotgun boys take over for 3 weekends. Then I'm back in the woods again til Jan 10th.
The 11th-21st of Jan, Iowa has a special late doe season that you can use a shotgun.ML,bow or handgun in.
Iowa rocks for deer hunting!

We don't have a reputation for monster bucks here in Virginia. We do have a massive deer population though. I'm thinking of using the urban deer permit next year to bow-kill the locals. Currently, we pay the local Police in excess of $200,000 in overtime to snipe the deer from local rooftops. I can legally take up to 12 deer per season should I choose to fill all the tags. NUTS

Nutsosane, you must have a lot of deer on local rooftops. How do the homeowners feel about the police picking deer off their roofs? How do they get up there in the first place???

Well, hunting was a bust. Saw a few, but they were small and/or not a good shot available. Figured it's better to let them plump up for another year.

Oh......and it was F-in COLD!!!
When we went out on Sunday morning the thermometer was reading 3oF
