go political on this if you must, but this is the funniest thing I've read all month:

Bono is at a U2 concert in Ireland when he asks the audience for some quiet.

Then in the silence, he starts to slowly clap his hands.

Holding the audience in total silence, he says into the microphone…”Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies.”

A voice from near the front of the audience pierces the silence…” stop doing it then!”

I've got to hand it to Bono. He is certainly committed. This isn't some Hollywood cause of the day for him. He's been doing this for years. He spends quite a bit of time there, and quite a bit more lobbying for research. I have nothing but respect for him in this regard.

Bono's a boner.
(yeah I know it lacks originality, but I'm a simpleton).

Stick to music, stay out of politics.

Amen Rasmonis! When I go to a concert, its to get out and have a good time, not get a big dose of guilt....If a entertainer wants to do things for charity, thats great! I just don't want to have to deal with it when I'm out trying to get away from my turd sandwich.....

Why don't Bono and George Clooney and the rest of those freaks go and try doing something THEMSELVES about what's going on in Africa?

"No Blood for oil, Bush lied people died" and in the same breath they want the USA to invade Darfur. Meanwhile, that country's leader has stated that it would be considered an act of WAR for ANY peacekeeping forces to enter that area.

hmmm... I smell hypocrisy....

I have completely stopped watching the Simpsons now, used to be my favorite show. I don't turn on the TV at 8pm on a Sunday to have a CARTOON preach to me about how the Army supposedly recruits children and how bad our government is.

At least with South Park, they joke about both sides... and they keep it funny.

pre-joshua tree U2 was a pretty good band.

Before Bono's head got too big to fit into a venue smaller than a stadium.

Bono is an egomaniac...a self-confessed one...he knows his reach and uses it

One person can't always make a difference...many people can...and if one person has the influence/power to get a message out...then I say go for it.

he has you listening and talking about, whether you realize it or not. Awareness is a huge step in things like this...he's making people aware

Africa as well as the poor communities in our country plagued with crime and broken families will one day recuperate if we just keep throwing money at the problem.

Rock on Bono
