I need a roster of the "Friday Night Buell Relay Team" so I can be adequately prepared for this coming homecoming They know who they are and why I want a roster of them. I have a debt to pay,and that weighs heavily on my mind. I know the following members: (by screen name) Steve_MacKay, Purple_people_eater, and Stalker. I am terrible with names and it embarrasses me to ask, but here I am. I want to make proper reparations, even if the people involved do not feel it is neccessary. Believe me, it is and it means a lot to me to make good on this. They are just the kind of people that don't see it as something anyone wouldn't do. Believe me it is an extraordinary thing in my book. |

You have no debt, and it was something that many do quite often. It was just a little extra time on the ride home, a nice walk, a nice evening, good company, and a little exercise. No reparations necessary. |

Brian... It's NOT a problem whatsoever. You don't owe us a thing. |

I have been amazed at what some Buellers have done for others. Several years ago there was 'Thunder in the Mountains' where several ATC members organized a fantastic ride in Colorado. At the 2003 Homecoming (that was organized by a couple of members [Dana for one]completely on their own) Crusty made a really cool aluminum drain plug that he gave to everyone who attended. And the next year at the Escape to Newfoundland he had t-shirst made up for everyone even though he couldn't make it due to a last minute problem. Innes (Mr.Grumpy) had hats made for everyone on the same trip. He brought those over from France. It just bowls me over with the generosity of this community and what some will do to help another. These were just a couple of examples that I have been involved in. I read about others on this site going on quite regularly. |

Tim, you stayed with Craig, and the rest of the Iowa gang at the hotel in Appleton that night IIRC. |

I appreciate the sentiment guys, but a debt is a debt. It's not like I'm hanging with you guys every weekend and will get the chance to make good through the natural order of things. I'm not a big one on keeping score on what I'm owed, or what I owe in the karma department. I just want to do a little something for the people that kept me from being royally (and I do mean royally) screwed along side the highway in the middle of the night, unable to push the bike, or even walk far enough to find out what exit I was nearest to, and then back to the bike. To me it was a VERY BIG deal. So I take it you are on my list MikeJ? Tim, I know you would have been there, but who knew? |

Yeah, I had the white S2 with the 4-way flashers. A soda will be fine, ice optional, thank you. |

Ok! I'm terrible with names, and I apologize for that. Not to mention the HUGE adrenalin rush and then hitting bottom after it that I was going through at the time. I seem to remember howling in my helmet when we rolled to a stop. Getting my son off the back, hopping of and saying some pretty wild stuff about Mat Mladin not having Sh!t on me! That walk (even with you guys pushing my poor bike with the rear tire flat + bead broken) was REALLY hard on me. I was very happy to be riding in the van the next day. The riding we had done to that point and walking around at the factory and Appleton had already pushed me pretty far into my reserves. I hate to admit it (even to myself sometimes) but I do have limitations, and unlike some others that need assistance I do not resent the people that help, and I don't like to lean on them any more than I have to either, but you probably guessed that. I cannot stress enough how bad of a spot I would have been in, or how much I appreciate the people that were there, and the Buell community in general. I have a nice bottle of 18 year old single malt that those who are of a mind to could share. (MaCallan highland single malt) this isn't paint stripper by any stretch If any of the relay team are into that kind of thing. My meds keep me from doing any more than a little sip. I don't drink much, but when I do it's something nice. If any of you are scotch drinkers we can work with that and I'll do something else for those that would rather not. Let me know. So far the list is: 1)Steve M 2)Toni 3)Stalker 4)mikej 5)Steve's brother-in-law(?) with the trailer who else was there? |

I remember that fire! Everybody in the parking lot ran the other way except Jim Higgins, he just kinda sauntered over and looked at the toasted battery cables after the big sparks were through. Ho-hum, just another day at the office for a fireman... DB, if I PM you my address, will you send the Macallan? Seriously, there does seem to be a kind of community here, doesn't there? I wasn't there for Brian's episode ( I was busy getting an aerobic workout pushing Bomber's bike around Elkhart ) but it doesn't surprise me a bit that the folks that frequent this site wouldn't let a stranded Buell rider walk home alone. rt |

RT,I loved the comments from all the lowrider dudes--"how much are they gonna charge me?" Son,the fire dept does not charge. And the best one was the guy who bolted when he heard the sirens,"I got a warrant out on me!!" |

GOOD ON ALL YOUZ for helping out a fellow bueller in a time of need.(Brian hope all is well now) It is this stuff that makes me happy to be a part of this community. Everyone ALWAYS seems to step up when the "going gets tough" around here! I crashed not long ago and was VERY HAPPY to be w/ a crew from this board. I Was a long ways from home and "The Crew" got me up and running in no time flat! They were even willing to trailer my bike if needed to my house some 200+ miles away! That is what this Board is about....Bueller's helpin' each other! |

while my difficulties were nuthin in comparison to those of others -- that weekend has created some GREAT home movies for me to watch from the porch in another 20/30 years . . . . . as contencious as Bedweb can get, I am always amazed at the sense of community that the same folks show face to face -- break break that fire and the attendant brownian motion was very useful, as it kept anyone from turning THing and my arriving into a photo op -- good light show, too! |

That was a fun night, especially the part about wait a minute for a fire extinguisher, throwing away beer, everyone scattering, the guy trying to beat out the fire with his t-shirt, bomber and RT showing up in matching leather jackets on the same bike, oh I guess it was all fun !! No coolice I wasn't anywhere near a hot tub, I KNOW how pics seem to simply show up on badweb !! |

Road_Thing: You are more than welcome to partake of the MaCallan at homecoming 07. I just want to be sure that the relay team members that want some don't miss out Like I said this aint paint stripper, or generic charcoal filtered vodka I've said before that I bought the bike because I liked the design. The people have added another dimension to what owning a bike can be. At least from my perspective. |

The part I thought was funny was the guy that said "Dude, we don't know how to disconnect it! The guy that does is out getting drunk and layed!". The under agers scattering when the sirens started was halerious. The "I got warrants" line almost made me choke laughing. As soon as the fire truck and police left, they all came back, kind of appeared out of the wood work! Funny stuff enjoyed with great folks. Thanks to all who were there. Brad |

Brian- that's what's great about the Buell community. I've met more riders since I've owned my XB,more than any other bike. Homecoming 07- I'm sure the Badweb'rs like Bads1, LakeBueller, Spidy, Court,Steve M and all those who organize will make the next Homecoming just as special as years past. And Buell too,I'm sure they will have good stuff for us! |
