Just got done talking to Bobby - the Service Manager at Fresno HD/Buell - nice guy - lol. He told me to come on by and he'd give the bike a free wash - I live in SF. He deducted 40 bucks for front bearings ordered and charged, but never installed, and said the rest was the time it took to do the job.

Definitely hosed - they did not used the bike down clause and charged me next day freight to get the bearings there. I'm not going to fight with these clowns, however, I will warn you - don't bother with Fresno HD/Buell - they have no sense of what it takes to do a job right, if they thought it would take 3 hours, they should have opted for a new wheel instead, he as much as said so - duh!

Finally I will say this last time - if they had simply done what I had asked and cleaned the bike as was also stated on the work order, none of this would have been brought up. Bad service will always bite you on the ass, and I sure hope they can improve, however, as it stands - I would never recommend Fresno HD/Buell and would warn against them for work to be done due to this.

STealerships suck in my opinion. Won't deal with them anymore than absolutely necessary. It is for this type of service they have lost my buisiness forever!!

I sometimes think they do it on purpose so others will say screw them and just do it themselves so they won't need to waranty anything!

The very few that are good dealers are to far for me to go to, like DaveS, I just get the parts from.

I lost a wheel bearing in Lavale, MD. Ended up at the dealership at 5:00 and asked if they could fix it. They took it right back, but broke the rim trying to get the bearing out. So they rolled a Blast off the showroom floor and put it's wheel on my bike. I rode away at 7:00 on my repaired bike. The bill was about $60. Some dealers suck, but some are great.

Geesh Ez,

I hate to say but I had the front bearings done in the S1 last year and I was only charged about $15.00 per bearing and about 30 minutes labor to pop them in.

Now, the wheel was brought in and not the complete bike so at the most add another 30 minutes to remove and replace the wheel.

This was from the local HD Retailer who is not even a Buell Retailer. Then again we have only 1 HD Retailer on the island.

Just talked to Bobby again - he called - I'll give him credit, even though I was badly quoted, he is at least following through and making sure I know that I was credited, and that the offer stands on the wash - lol - he really is a nice guy, however, even after explaining my side, he of course stands by his - I understand they are in business to make money, however, they should always keep the customer informed, not after the fact - those parts should have been ordered through the down traveler program where freight is waved, the mech/tech seeing the job would be longer than two hours - took him 3, 2 hr over book, should have notified the mngr, and then he should have called me - an extra weeks wait for a new wheel instead of bearings would have been my choice - not given, and though it would have cost the same in the end, the new wheel would have been a lot better than the current wheel with fresh punch marks, etc. - still I give the guy credit and can see why he is well liked. Sigh - I never thought customer service was hard when I worked retail - why is it so difficult a concept for them to grasp. Heck - I used to work the CS booth for LumberJack and we always worked with the customer, and still made a very tidy profit. In fact all my customer service jobs where very positive in that respect.
They just don't get it - sigh...

Customer service all but went out the door quite a few years ago. The only place I get service I'm actually happy with are the restaurants where the wait staff knows me personally even if only by my tips. I take care of them, and they take care of me and my family.

Try tipping your mechanic at a Harley dealer and see what it gets you. Nothing beyond lip service.

Forget tipping for a minute and how about people just do their damn jobs well because it is, in fact, their JOB to do whatever they do WELL. No, not here in Amerika. Of course there are exceptions but I think we all know exactly what I mean without having to beat the horse over it.

Post WW2 era America is gone.

Funny thing is - Dave gets it, and other sponsors, and people here know of dealers who get it, so whats wrong with these people - they seem nice, however, they have no idea!

They're probably just repugnicans. Ever notice that whenever you get screwed by anybody they're a raging 'conservative', but when you get real good service, its usually from a Liberal, liberty loving friendly, helpful, genuinely concerned and socially responsible person or organization? Yeah. Wonder why.

PS) The above is my personal opinion and BWB does not sponsor or support anything I might have to say. ;)

The Story Is Always True Until You Hear The Other Side!!
EzBlast, your rear wheel bearings were melted into the hub. The factory tool to remove wheel bearings only works when you stop riding before the wheel bearing melts down. The technician who was fixing your Blast had to machine a tool to weld into the race to remove the bearing remains. If the bearings were intact I bet we could have done the repairs for 1/3 the costs.
Hind sight is 20/20 and you should have resolved this at the dealer service counter before you left. Sorry to hear from another Buell rider out there in the Bay area that you still have issues. I would like to talk to you and resolve this if you still think we hosed you. Call me, ok!

Seems to me it was already mentioned that the entire wheel could have been replaced for less.

If the job had been properly evaluated prior to execution, the wheel replacement option would have been on the table.

Having said that, I think it's admirable for you to reach out in this fashion Bobby, it shows character.

Resolved! Bobby is a very good Service Mngr. - I say this in sincerity, not because of what he did, but because of his attitude - that which tells a person - I want to make this right! That is how you create a positive customer service reaction for 99% of your customers and how you keep customers comming back, even if for no more than to say hi and kick tires a bit. Its called building customer loyalty, and he does a great job of that - as witnessed by our last conversation. Though unlikely to go to Fresno in the near future, I am left with a change of heart and the satisfaction of knowing that good dealerships do exist in Cali, even if hard to find - they are out there and Fresno HD/Buell is one of them. We came to the agreement that an hr would be refunded to me, and that I should have been informed when the decision making part came into play. His ability to understand my side and to not take it personally was commendable.
Fresno HD/Buell - Thank you for restoring my faith in the good dealers in California!

Thank you guys for your input and concerns.
I always want to do the right thing when it is in my power to do so. I love the motorcycling life style and have been in a dealership for over 23 years. I have friends and good customers like EZ that will come by and just say hi. You all ride safe and keep the wheels on the pavement, well atleast one wheel.

Hi Ez,

the guy who bought my baby respld it to a co-worker who first wrecked it and then butchured it up to hide his damage before he sold it. I do miss her since we went from San Diego to Eureka on the 2002 Buell Adventure tour. I will keep my eyes out for any good deals and let you know if I see one.
Take care,
Bobby.
