I just bought a 2000 m2 Cyclone and I've heard the rear shock was recalled I did not buy it from the original owner and the guy I bought it from didn't know it the original owner had it replaced. Short from taking it in is there any way I could tell if it had been taken care of?

If you send your VIN to DaveS, he can check it for you and tell you which recalls have been done and if any are outstanding.

You could also check the knowledge vault and compare photos of the recall and new shocks. The rear shock eye is much "fatter" on the new shock. It's pretty easy to spot the difference in the two.

Is the only difference the shock itself?
Or the mounting points on the frame, etc.?

I bought a used M2, but it came with a Penske shock already on it.

If the rear shock has been replaced, does that make this recall moot? As in, it doesn't matter any more?
