Well hopefully by September, I will have most of my Dataceneter moved to its new home and will be able to join on that trip down. .

As for roads in the catskills there are tons. My fav is still closed though (last I checked). Rt 23a from Palenville to Tannersville along the falls. They had just got done repaving it, and then the flooding we had destroyed part of it.

I don't know of any real long twisties. Most of the ones we hang out with are either long and ok. or great and short with a long stretch of just ok in between them. I am in the northern catskills/foothills of the adirondacks.

23A is a nice road, as is Rt 214, a short but scenic romp.

on Sunday I took a nice ride that started out with Rt 30 around the pepacton, then 17 down to 6 and over to Tony's shop. Then Rt 6 down to bear mountain, down to New Roc HD (Hung around till 3:20 or so, but no Brag meeting). Then saw some college buddies). Ending with a ride up the taconic -> 23 -> 145 -> home, with one of the craziest lightning storms I have ever ridden in. GPS said 480 miles Round Trip.

While not technically in the Catskills. I'll offer the illion gorge(rt 51) and Taconic Trail (rt2 NY/MA Border). They are both nice twisties. Around here Some local close favs (NY Capital District). ScotchRidge, 146/156 Near Altamont.

Rt 28 Oneonta to Delhi (but not now, flood damage makes it terrible). NYS Rt 10 is a nice road from Deposit till it hits Rt 8 (well the southern part is tore up from the flood again), but the northern part (especially up past palantine bridge is very nice, just have to be mindful of the horse and buggies).

Saintly next time you are coming around these parts (not sure where in NY you are from), PM me.

There's 28A(south side of the Shokan Reservior) watch out for the deer, 212 in the Woodstock/Bearsville area and 47 from Big Indian to Curry. Always a winning hand.

If you're hungry and ready for good mexican, try the Gray Wolf, if you favor Chinese try the Three Bears. Both are located in Bearsville.

i just got back from riding around my local twisty rodes... i used to think they where pretty good..... now they are just boring. after riding the dragon nothing can compare. i must go back! that is the only thing i have been thinking and talking about since i got back. i feel like a crack head jonesing for just one more hit. september can't come fast enough.

jim,
you just described exactly what has been happening to me.
my name is mike and i am an addict, mountain roads seem to be the only thing i can think about. i need my next fix, it is all encompassing. very hard to keep my mind on work, downright impossible. i keep reliving it in my mind, kind of a shell shock thing, only in a good way!

why wait till september! lets set up a trip to the virginia and the blue ridge. got to be some cheap motels available!

If you're coming down.. errr.. up.. errr.. over.. Well, I'm in Northern VA and already promised to take BRAT PAC II on some roads..

If you're going to be in my area.. drop me a line.. I can help you find some.. uh..less boring ways around.. (yes, I've ridden the Dragon, the Snake and a few others)..I know what it's like once you've had a serious curve fest.. takes time to realize that you're roads aren't that bad.. just not quite that .. uh.. thrilling..
