I better learn how to crawl, 'cause my hungry chuck taylors (well, one of 'em) blew out at the seam between the sole and the upper. i brought them back to the shoe store and explained this to the salespeople, and i emailed the converse athletic shoe company and they told me chucks won't last long when used for motorcycling, but I know more about footwear than them and they make an inferior shoe so i'm going back to my pro-keds. don't know how converse intends to seel athletic footwear with this track (  ) record.....figures it'd happen when my cons are out of warranty, now i need a skateboard to bring them back to the dealer, who knows far less than i do about athletic footwear... Is this what you're all talking about here?  I had no idea these had a name associated with them:  When I was a kid we just called them tennis shoes. Bought a new pair as soon as school let out for the summer every year and by mid to late July the sides were all blown out and they looked more like sandals than shoes and we just used them for fishing in the rivers since the gravel and sand would easily wash out the sides of them then. | ||

Hmmm.. I have a pair of Chucky T's that have lasted about a year so far... no blowouts. When I was a kid, I did go through them pretty quick though. | ||

ROTFLMFAO! you got very good milage, when i was younger, skateboard shoes (before they were specifically branded as such)lasted on average 2 weeks... and i couldn't find a sponsor to cover the rubber, on the upside, i developed a fine gorilla grip on the board | ||

Have you tried Vans? those thick gum soles make pretty good brakes too. Old Skool Vans rule! guaranteed i'll still be rockin' an all black pair at 91yrs young. already told the wife to make sure i'm buried in 'em if i kick it before her. | ||

DOD contracted converse to produce beautiful AWS SeAL shoes from the early '70s-'80s..... later ll bean scapped them up (USN switched overt o mesh wading shoes) and sold trhem as converse 'camp shoes'..... long since sold out...best darn shoes a froggie could find. hundreds of SeALs and Deltas swore by 'em....just flat chucks, od, with wrap-around toe sections for use with fins. i stockpiled a bunch, wore 'em all out by the end of the 20th | ||
