not bad looking, a little out of proportion to my eye.

I like it.

Like a chunk-style sportster.
Needs a better breather though.(or a dark paintjob)

Rok, have you ever ridden a stock S1? Now THERE'S an uncomfortable seat!!

I kinda like the bike--I'm real partial to 'trackers--I think with set of 18" or 19" wheels it's look lighter, and more "in proportion."

yea, it looks like a flat tracker almost, just need to bring the frame in closer.
It's so big, it seems. Nice bike though. I like this better than the mutants...

Worse things have happened to a Buell! I like it. It's a very tidy dirt tracker style build.

I also really like Mert Lawwill's street tracker.

that rear suspension is the "bomb"!!!

those wheels would help out the "pitbuell" greatly i think!

i emailed mert and he got back to me real quick about a basic question, great "potential customer" service!!

Motorcyclist has a great article on Lawwill in the August '05 issue.

that rear suspension is the "bomb"!!!

I agree...pretty trick set up. In the article they mention how it really hooks the bike up and put the power down. They said wheelies were almost impossible (dunno if that's a good thing or a bad thing ).

For a little enjoyment, check out old Erik Buell patents. Mert is using a design Erik patented maybe 25 years ago! Of course, the patent is expired, since they last only 18 years.

Dan,
I think that's just a stock cam cover that's been "cut down" and polished.

Love it. Purpose built, but it is cost prohibitive.

Harley can do it and make it affordable if they wanted to. Then, would anyone buy one besides me?

The bike has a solid mounted engine bolted directly to the frame. It may look cool, but I would bet it is one butt numbing machine. Get out the really thick boots and the gel padded gloves for this one.

But you know, with the trouble I am having on my S2 with torn front isolators, maybe a case of the numb butt may not be all that bad. I just would not want to pay a premium price for it, which is what you do with these custom bikes.

Mert's bike is a show piece too and not meant to be ridden. How do I know? There are no air cleaners on it and really no place to put them that wouldn't be in the way of your right thigh. I like bikes I can ride...that look good too.

sleez says, "that rear suspension is the "bomb"!!!"

It looks like the suspension off of my old '71 Kawasaki A7...and that thing was awful in the curves. This bike would not be much better. It looks so home made...kinda like something Cushman would have come up with way back when.

jimidan,

a little more state of the art than a 70s Kawi!!

(we're talking about Mert's suspension, not the pitbuell!)

Steve Storz also has a nice take on this way of thinking, his XR1200. A bit pricey at $25K if memory serves.

The article in the Motorcyclist I mention would beg to differ. Here's a couple of pics scanned from the August 'o5 issue. It's street legal and very rideable...for $29,900!
