Went for a ride on saturday with my buddy and his chopper broke down. Weren't wearing helmets so we couldn't set them on the road to show we needed help but the seat being off should've showed we were in a little trouble. We sat for an hour and not one single person stopped motorcycle or car. Then later a fellow bueller went by on an xbs. So I jumped on mine and caught up just to wave and the rider didn't even look at me or pick up their hand to wave. No love, No love. Kind figured buellers are a rare breed and we would have a little in common.

I broke down/ran out of gas on my old XLH so many times I can't even count them.
MOST times, no one would even stop.
So much for the "brotherhood of H-D".

Cops have passed by me while I was PUSHING my sportster on the highway.

Almost every time I broke down on my X1, someone would drop by and offer help.

I don't know what kind of conclusion to draw from this but I will pull over for anyone no matter what they are driving.

Jap bike guys are SHOCKED when a guy on a sporster pulls over to help.

All this having been said....
WHY didn't you drive on ahead to get help?
Two guys on the side of the road looks like one guy that needs help and another guy giving help.
No need to pull over if the guy is being helped already.

I ran out of gas once on my way to work, started pushing, guy pulls over in a full race trailer, asks if all I need is some gas, I nod. comes back with a can from his full race trailer, fills up, I try to offer some cash, says nope and takes off. Turns out he was heading out to the regional finals in Indy on his pro-stock bike...way cool.

While on my way to Wisconsin a couple years ago I stopped for a guy on Hwy 401 in Ontario just outside of Kingston.

It was 2am, not a soul around and came upon this rather ratty looking guy on an old sportster. He was on the side of the road with no gear and out of gas, He told me the gas station was about 15-20km up the road.

Now picture this, a rather friendly sheltered Newfie stopping to help out this hard core looking biker from Kingston, ON. By the time I realized what kind of trouble I could have been in I was stopped offering assistance.

We ended up using a dime to unscrew the hose clamp off my fuel valve and used an extra large Tim Hortons Coffee Cup that we found on the side of the road to transfer four cups of gas into his bike.

I later told my cousin the story when I got to Kingston and she told me "I was out of my mind" for stopping. There were a couple of very active biker gangs in Kingston who were into all kinds of stuff.

I guess I was just helping a fellow biker who was in trouble and I hope if I ever get stuck on the road someone will help me.

I always stop, no matter what brand of bike. Two wheels is two wheels...

I offered to ride to get my tools but he called our friend who said he would be there in fifteen. And I know I should wear a helmet but we were just going for a spin around the neighborhood before a bbq when we decided to go a little further.

Ouch....around the neighborhood is where most accidents happen.
Less than 5 miles from home is what the stats say.
