Here's an interesting one for you Buellers: http://www.uncommonmotorcycles.com/triumphrace.htm Please note "He [Speed Triple] beat the Buell while riding a wheelie for the entire quarter mile" Also "this Triumph is basically stock. This Buell was already modified for performance" Love to hear from you guys who have experienced Triumphs Cheers |

Here's an even more interesting one for Triumph owners, people on this site bitch about dealership support and resale value. If you want to know how bad dealer networks can be or how bad resale is, talk to a Triumph owner. Cheers too |

new rider, perhaps if you were a older rider, you would understand it is not ONLY about quarter mile speed....but what do I know, I'm only an engineer... |

Newrider: I'll share a secret with you . . . that "beat the Buell riding on one wheel" story started in 1998. Stormtrooper: Let me see your identification. Obi-Wan: [influencing the stormtrooper's mind] You don't need to see his identification. Stormtrooper: We don't need to see his identification. Obi-Wan: These aren't the droids you're looking for. Stormtrooper: These aren't the droids we're looking for. Obi-Wan: He can go about his business. Stormtrooper: You can go about your business. Obi-Wan: Move along. Stormtrooper: Move along... move along. Some motorcycle online venues toss bait out to see who nibbles. . . . if it sounds to absurd to be true. . . it usually is. Go toward the light. Well shoot!. As a guy that has owned 5 tubers and have had the pleasure of riding some of the current buell offerings, I can maybe give some good input. I currently have an 02 Speed Triple, 01 Sprint ST and deb also has an 02 Speed 3. While I loved the Buells I hated the Dealership experience. I had a chance to ride a buddies Speed Triple and was hooked. There like riding something with the High RPM hit of a Four and all the Low end of a twin throughout the rev range. As for the Drag Race picture and would the speed triple win? Yes it would out excellerate it. It has an allmost 20 hp advantage but that picture is wrong. A bike gains maximum velocity with both wheels on the ground or the front tire floating. I think at the angle the Speed Triple is wheelying is would be impossible to win. Is the Speed Triple a Better Bike? Maybe in terms of reliability and dealership support. Yes. As for riding, It depend's on personal preference. True performance of a Bike depend's on the person piloting it.Bob

Reliability, maybe, dealers may like the Triumphs more, but in terms of downtime, forget about it. I have a friend with a Triumph Daytona. He had something small go wrong and he was out three months for a part, and a bike that couldn't be ridden. Screw that. |

3 little boys standing around bragging about how tough their dads are.............. One says "my dad's so tough he eats light bulbs!" One of the others says, "gee, did you ever see him do it?" "No," says the first boy, "but one night when I walked past my parents bedroom door I heard him tell my mom, if you turn off the light I'll eat it!" |

The same 3 little boys talking about how cool their fathers are.......... One says,"My dad can blow smoke rings out of his mouth!" "Did you see it?" "Yup!" The second one says,"That's nothing; my dad can blow smoke rings from his nose!" "Did you see it?" "Yup!" The third one says,"That's nothing! My dad can blow smoke out his butt!" Amazed, both the other kids say, "Did you see it!" "No; but I saw the nicotine stains in his underwear!" |

You know why the british don't build television sets? They couldn't find a way to make them leak oil. My dad had a triumph cruiser when I was growing up and he had to work on it alot. One time while riding the bolts holding the handle bars sheared off and the bars came off the bike. My dad managed to get the bike to the side off the road but was so shook up he didn't put out the stand and fell over. Sidenote I think the triple speeds are kinda homely. |

Please note "He [Speed Triple] beat the Buell while riding a wheelie for the entire quarter mile" Also "this Triumph is basically stock. This Buell was already modified for performance" And who cares? Does any Triumph makes you smile like a Buell? I bet not.So what about this comparison? |

I like the Speed Triple. In fact that is what I was most fixin' to purchase when I entered the Lone Star H-D/Buell/Triumph dealership. Then I took a demo ride on an S1. Gussenhoven, ya prodigal BadWeBr! Good to see you pipe up here. |

All I gotta' say is BRING IT! If he can stick that wheelie for the entire 1/4 mile, and never get out of third...I will be waiting for him at the end....talking to his girlfriend I ride Honda 900cc+ sportbikes all the time(I work on them for a living), and they will waste that speed triple, and my S1 will still storm off on one that's up on the back tire that high! There are faster bikes out there...everyone knows this. Buells are just different though! That's why we like them!! |

I'm hoping it was blood levels extremely low on potassium and Magnesium. Thats all they know so far. So Badweb it is fer a spell. Robert, I agree, at that angle anything would have passed the Trumpet. Bob |

I too kinda like the looks (and power) of the Speed Triple. I don't think I would ever buy one, but if I did those headlights would HAVE to go! Triumph got a lot of things right on that bike...except those! |

They are cool bikes, but if you look at the new ones up close, they look kinda un-finished. Like they should have a fairing on them to cover up some of the ugly mechanicals. Small gripe on a cool bike, but it turned me off. |

The Triumph is more powerful than the Buell, and there are any number of makes of motorcycle more powerful than the Triumph. If that's all you're concerned with, please buy one of them. I, for one, am very happy with the power of my Buell. |

No, but it is an original glass tank. Ya, they came that way in 61. I didn't know that untill I researched it. It seems that our fuel and yer-a-peein fuel just aint the same and our fuel tears the hell outa raw fiberglass. (additives I say) Now here's jewel. Ya the .......well one of two Buells on the compound. This one didn't fair so well and if you look under the bike, there lies the licence plate from the vehicle it hit. Scary huh! No I wasnt the rider. Notice the exposed cams coolernhell! Bob |
