I went riding Monday.

It was 26º.

Reason: it was so darn cold the car wouldn't start.

I put my favorite 40 mile loop in today. Up a gnarly mountain pass and cruise back down the Blue Ridge Parkway. The last 2 miles I shift into neutral and coast down with only the idle from the DRUMMER and the wind rushing past my helmet. Man I cannot wait until the roads clean up and the weather settles. Fast&Loose. NUTS

Just rebought tabs for the Sporty(Lost the first set!)
Still too cool for a ride(for me). I was talking to the wife tonight about moving two states south.
All I would have to do is find a nice house for the little woman to live in and meaningful employment to pay for it.

We just got dumped on today......

I'd say about 50-60cm of snow in 12hrs.

I think thats about 5 feet to you American Friends!!!!!

On the up side, I just love my little Subaru Impreza, actually caught some air jumping through a snow drift today....Its so much fun driving around in the snow and having guys in big 4X4 trucks look at you like your nuts.

I had the sidecar rig out to do a promotional event yesterday, about an 8 mile ride to get there in 30 degree weather. Coming home it was down to 15 degrees and the key wouldn't turn in the ignition switch- moisture in there had frozen! I was about ready to hot wire it when after 15 miutes of wiggling and such it finally moved all the way to "ignition".

Buellgrrrl, next time, take a cigarette lighter and heat the key before you put it in the Ignition. The hot key will melt the ice in the lock and it'll free up.

Update, had a great ride yesterday and decided to tempt fate. Got up early and started to get the Electraglide ready for a trip. Wife was wanting to go for a ride so we left about noon. Temp was about 38 or so. No weather due in till nightfall. We decided to go to Reno over mount Rose. (highest yearly maintained pass in the Sierra Nevadas). Nice lunch, putt around downtown bla bla... Look back over to my route home to see it shrouded in rain/snow clouds. We make a bee line for the mountain and get to about 8200' before it starts REALLY snowing. I have lived in these mountains for 10 years and not my first time getting caught in the snow so I take it real easy and create distance between me and the other cagers. About 300 or so feet from the summit it happens. I feel my rear slowly washing out and then we are down in the 2 lane highway. Near as I can tell we did about a 720 or so. as I am spinning I see my wife hit forehead first on the pavement so hard I can hear the impact. My next rotation I see her slam into the snow embankment. I have to say this was one of the most horrific things I have ever seen. Knowing that my bad decisions my have cost the ultimate price.
We are beat to crap and sore, recovering and reflecting. Good gear helped im sure.
The thing that comes to mind over and over is that I knew it was 'sketchy' riding conditions and I went anyway, like I do often.
This time I allowed my wife to talk me into going. Its one thing to risk your own life for the 'high' and something completely different to involve your loved ones.

Peace out
Ed

Think Jimmy crack corn tune...

26 degrees and I don't care,
26 degrees and I don't care,
26 degrees and I don't care...
I'm off to ride my Buell!

I know, I'm silly.
