Layed it down god last night....I know I was going above the posted sped limit...hell, I was doing about 90...anyway, I dont remember what happened, and witnesses dont even know..the bike just came out from underneath me...

That damn Vanson though, love it..seriously saved my hide.. it did creep up in the front, before I was able to flip onto my stomach...

measured distanced...

Me 317 feet..

Bike, 433....

soemhow though, I came out of it, my helmet didnt even make contact with the ground...

Gloves, DESTROYED, have a bit of road rash on both hands.. my lower stomach(right at the belt line), and, my right knee it almost totally without flesh, alot of bruising, and soreness(what else woudl you expect...)

Went and checked the marks today..and it looks like the rear tire started spinning(or the rear break grabbed).

Anyway, I am good to roll, I am working on getting a new mirror, finding a set of dirtbike handlebars..and a new boomerang arm for the shifter...

The primary isnt leaking, in fact, I rode it home..

No citations, teh cops just asked if I want a rescue unit, and when I said no, they looked at me funny...and then sent me on my way...

So, all in all...guess I am on the hunt for parsts again...lol

OH, by the way...got my orders today....I am moving in April....and going south...which really sucks...

You are a lucky boy!

Heres proof. A human body if decelerated from 40mph to 0mph instantly will suffer internal injuries every time. From 30mph to 0mph broken bones.

Glad you just slid!

Glad you're no worse off than you describe. Some post crash evaluation may be in order - we wanna keep you around ;), and if you keep ignoring the odds, they will catch up with you.

When you say you don't know what happened ... here are some things to ponder:

1) straight stretch or corner
2) if corner, left or right
3) accelerating or deceleration at time of crash
4) on or off gas and/or brakes
5) smooth or no
6) death grip or relaxed
7) looking up or "riding the front wheel"
8) think of more yourself

Since it sounds like you've been down before, please don't miss out on the opportunity to avoid something similar in the future.

What I do know...

coming out of a light, accelerat9ing, not too hard....55 mph street.. I was in 3rd, or jsut into 4th... The speed, I DO have to say, i am not too sure..but the distance of the slide says it.. My buddy was doing about 70, and the he saw me pass him., and then, I just wasnt on the bike...

So, straight road, semi relaxed posture/grip, medium accelereation, looking at teh road..and BOTH wheels on the ground.

when we were looking at teh bike in after moving it into the parking lot..there was ALOT of crap in the tire, dirt, grass...etc.. BUT, the bike never went off the pavement..

the ONLY thing I can think of, is that the tire decided it wasnt gonna hld the road...it was a new tire, BUT, it had about 200 scuffed miles oput on it yetsterday, PLUS a couple burnouts...

PERSONNALY, I dont think I was going that fast..BUT, I know I was moving...I am havign to go off of what others say...

Anyway, anyone konw if CR80 bars will work on my X1? I may get outta this with only having to buy a set of bars and grips...

and thank everyone...in good spirits? Yeah, I was happy to get up and walk away from that one... to date, that is defeinatly the owrst one I have walked away from...

Hmm, tough one. But keep thinking. There's bound to be something there. Did you maybe decide to slow down? Rolled off the throttle? Touched the front brake? From own (painful) experience - front wheel washing out happens super fast and is difficult to pinpoint after the fact.

Just a thought. Glad you're ok.

It's the sudden stop that gets you. Thankfully you kept moving, and had on some good gear. I'm glad to hear you're OK.

"That damn Vanson though, love it..seriously saved my hide.. "

Can't say enough about that statement. If I could agree more, I'd be supernatural. If it's a black Vanson, some Kiwi shoe polish will bring it right around.

Glad to hear that you made it through a second time.

Road temp is a big variable, I find.
My bike is extra squrrely on the D205 rear if the temp drops below 40. This is even if I was riding long enough to warm them up.
My old D208 felt like WOOD when it was cold.
It actally dropped me in the dealership parking lot as if I was on ice. (yes, in front of everyone)

Yeah, the road was plenty cold. But, yeah I am surviving..still a bit sore, and plenty bruised. I have slowed down, cause I am stuck driving my truck..

Seriously..I just have to grab a set of handle bars..and hope I can bend things back into place..

We'll see...

The jacket is blue and black..and I actually have a tear in it..not just scuffed...I am considering replacing it..though, they coost a fortune...

The temp was 31*...did a roolling burnout prior to the incedent....BUT..I guess it doesnt matter...oh well...biek is almost back together..a set of dirtbike bars...and a few otehr odds and ends...

30 deg temps mean riding cautiously

I rear ended a car when I was younger NO GRIP

I slid a corner from off of idle the other day

the Dunlops are slick when cold, Glad you are all right, will Blast bars do ya?

Good you're all right. I've ran off a corner once at high speed on the street. Not a good time...but I slid through moist grass. Couldn't ask for a better landing than that!

I've been down a few times but the gear has saved my ass every time.

Geeze kid, be careful!

Glad you weren't hurt too badly, but man, go easy.

At your age a fella still bounces pretty good, but those days won't last forever!

Yeah, i am good to go...healing well...

I had teh bike out on Friday afternoon, and the evening, but put it back up..its just too cold..teh tires wont get warm...

Yeah, I should have known better..but, I erred..it happens..but, there is a reason I wear gear.. again, oh well.

I am actually running a set of dirtbike bars for now.. and I had to order a new shifter arm from CrossRoads...thinking, I might get a new center piece for the cafe bars..as I have gotten really used to that...I forgot how wheelie happy these bikes are, when you not leaning over teh front tire...

But thanks everyone who made an offer to help out...

Now, I just need to find a good way to check and make sure something isnt tweaked..kinda feels like it..get a little head shake when turning, and changing lanes..THOUGH it could be the wider bars, and not being used to them..but I still wanna check it, or have it checked by someone..
