The Worst thing about being in the motorcycle industry and living in Daytona is working sun up to past sundown during all the bike events. Still hope to see everyone at Vegasbueller's after hours and maybe have a couple of malted beverages as well.

Jersey: bring a sleeping bag. We have my wifes playroom which is about 25 X 13 that has pretty much open floor space, and our back porch is all screened in as well. It is pretty darn big. LOL I nap out there alot! There are a couple of hotels close by, just search for Deltona, Fl.

Steve-O... that would be great! It looks like we'll be cooking out friday and saturday just so everyone can get together. We kind of plan on the whole week being filled with people in and out.

Hey Al... we'll work it out! I am sure with all the goings on, that there will be a chance to say hello to all our non-Daytona area friends.

Steve-O (well and everyone else) here's kind of the "tentative" plan: We'll cook out on Friday and Saturday. Times yet to be determined. I'll supply the coolers, ice, soft drinks, Bubba Burgers, Brats, and probably some BBQ chicken. We'll also try to get some sides like chips, etc. The grill is open for anything else that you guys might bring. I suppose BYOB would be ok. My wife likes Budweiser, so we'll have some of that on hand. As it all gets closer and we get sort of a head count we'll know more what to add. If anyone has any of the Coleman type chairs to bring along that would be great. I am trying to scare some up locally.

For those that will be staying overnight, you might need to bring a sleeping bag or air matress. I don't have any extra sheets, pillows, etc. We have a guest bath that should be ok for everyone. (Shower, etc) The rule here is the house is yours when you are here. we'll show you the fridge, the stove, all the goodies and you wait on yourself!

By the way... we have 5 cats and a dog...just in case anyone could be allergic. They usually hide out (well except for the dog) when strangers are around.

See you guys then!

Is anyone headed over there from this side of the country (Arizona) by car? I could share driving/gas money duties and all that. If it's only a few hundred miles from here I could probably ride to the jump off point as well. If there's a trailer for bikes that my baby could hitch a ride on that would be excellent as well...

I would LOVE to be at Daytona this year ;)...

OK boys and girls,

I need some help on this one.

I just won a contest here at work to spend a week in Myrtle Beach all expenses paid. The boss owns a Condo in Myrtle Beach and he is flying me down to spend a week there.

However, I want to go to Daytona and the trip is planned for March.

When is Daytona Bike Week?

Primarily the Daytona 200, I have never seen a bike race before and thought I could rent a car, drive to the 200 and back to Myrtle the next day.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Newfie

When is the Race?

Does BRAG do anything?

Those kinds of details.

Fellow Buellers, if there are a bunch of you going see if Vegas might be able to find rental property nearby. They may take a month's rent for say a ten day stay and not charge a deposit. Ten of us had to resort to this when we got to Daytona and no one had reserved rooms. As it turned out we rented form a rabid race-fan whose house was one block from the beach and two blocks from Volusia Blvd. Still dont know if my pension will allow the trip, just retired last week. I am also going to try to fly in for the race, have family local to Daytona, so lodging won't be necessary, I would however enjoy the BBQ and B.S. sessions.

Newfie, the 200 is on March 11. There's some question right now about what BRAG is going to do, but there's a possibility that it will be good. I'm betting that it will be, based on my past Daytona experiences.
If you want to see motorcycle races, there are every possible type at Daytona at top level. I plan on seeing the Short Track National and the 200 and all its supporting classes (Superbike, Superspurt, Sortastock, etc.)If it weren't for the BBQ and BS at Vegas' house, there's a Supercross on Friday night. There's even a Motorcycle Demolition Derby, if you want to see a real weird thing.
You'll be surrounded by HALF A MILLION MOTORCYCLES; most of them with straight pipes. You won't believe the sound. You'll have the opportunity to Demo ride just about any current motorcycle being offered for sale in the USA (including an XB12X Ulysses). You can go to the aftermarket show and see (and buy) anything from new helmets to boot inserts that will make your feet hurt less. You can even get your boots polished for free by some huckster while he tries to sell you a bottle of Doc Baileys Boot Polish.
Daytona is like nothing else you've ever seen. Everything is overpriced, from gas to food; and everything is a great bargain. If you go to Main Street, you'll see custom bikes for sale for $70,000 and you'll see rat bikes so bad, you'll wonder how they run and how they can be ridden. You'll see things you won't know how to describe. AND you'll probably be dressed in a T-shirt!
Come on down, you're going to love it!

Hey M1, I live in Arkansas, just a hop, skip, and a jump from I-40, if there is some way we could meet, we could make a convoy out of it. My biggest problem is vacation, I can Comp. all of my time hopefully, but I am not sure. Anyway, it would be good to meet somewhere along the way. Vegasbueller, what are the particulars about staying at your place, what do I need to do IF I AM GOING TO STAY THERE?
