Well, I finaly did it. Saved up and found a great deal on a Canon 20D. I was looking to get the Rebel XT, but I happend across this when at the local camera shop and couldn't contain myself. It came with the battery grip and a 1gig card, I already had the cheapo lens. I'm so excited. I've been wanting a good digi cam for years. Now I just have to learn how to use it. I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality of pictures out of it so far, cant imagine what it will do with some better glass. I'll post up some test shots later. |

Congratulations. Very nice camera indeed. Can't wait to see your photos. You can easily spend as much money on lenses for that camera as it would cost to buy a new Buell. Don't ask how I know.

Took pictures of my friend shooting my pistol. Camera will take 5 frames per second. Here's what I got, converted into a gif animation:

I'm jealous I've been wanting to get a digital SLR for about 3 years. I have 2 Canon SLRs and about 6 Canon lenses already. My current digital is a little Olympus. But trust me, that little camera is tough as nails. It survived my crash a Deal's Gap without any major damage. |

I'm assuming that the fact that the barrel of that piece is cocked up at an angle is a design feature, rather than an indication that it's made outa silly putty ;-} serious question from one who stopped paying attention to fireams development soon after the invention of the metal-cased cartirdge |

Yeah I think the barrel tilts down in back to improve feeding. |

Ok, heres a shot I took. The subject: Crop 1: Looks good right? it gets better. 100% Crop (actual size photo): hehe, thats great, I cant imagine what it would be like if I actually had a nice lens. |

Bomber, I think that barrel angularity you noticed is by design--the breech end of the barrel drops down slightly to unlock the slide so it can shuck and reload. 1911's do the same thing, if I recall correctly... rt |

Here is a cross section of the M1911A1. In battery, the barrel and slide are locked together by lugs on the top of the barrel and grooves in the slide. At firing, they move rearward together, when pressure on the lugs has dropped enough, and the barrel and slide have moved far enough, a pivoting link pulls the back of the barrel down and out of the locking grooves. That creates the slightly upward tilt in the barrel. The slide extracts the empty and continues rearward. That Ruger appears to use a similar locking system, the angle looks to be more than would be seen on the M1911A1. That would, in theory anyway, give it deeper locking lugs. Jack |

Craig, I envy you. I have the Digital Rebel (300D). It has the good but not great EF-S 18-55mm lens. I'd like to move up to the better/more useful EF-S 17-85mm IS USM lens eventually. That is about a $400 lens at street prices. The EF-S 18-55mm lenses can be found pretty cheap on eBay (under $50) because there are so many that were "set free" by upgrades. I think you gain some focusing and frame rate speed with the EF-S lenses and the newer EF-S USM lenses are even better. I wish now that I had gotten a 10D or maybe even the 20D. Jack |

Great camera, just rolled my 20D over 10,000 photo's the other weekend while I was doing some low light concert shoots. Pickup a 50mm f/1.8 for it...its about 75 bucks and will open ya up to a whole new world of photography with the 20D's ability to shoot in low light at ISO 800, 1600 and 3200! |

Here is a shot with the 50mm at ISO 800 using available light that I captured at a bike show a few weeks back.

The lens pictured is a USM lens. I also have a 75-300mm USM III lens. Right now I'm looking for a more wide angle lens, the problem I'm finding is the 1.6x crop factor is making the 28mm kind of tight. Then it's look for a faster long zoom lens. Neverending. |

Shot that I took last night at the Lewis Spilker Benefit. I was having a real hard time with the low light, I could have used a faster lens badly. But it turned out allright. Taken at ISO 1600, 28mm, f/4. |

Cool pic! A f/2.8 or faster would have helped lots! I am gettin ready to post a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM on Ebay, if you are interested in it, make me an offer? Jim |

Here's a pic of the lens, its in "Excelent" condition! I only took about 50 pic's or so with it, went to the IS version due to my wrist (can't hold a camera still if my life depended on it).
