Reflections as partaining to the "05" riding season. As this year winds down I ask, look back and rate your "05" year in Buelling/Motorcycling?
Scale of 1(bad) to 10(good)rate your riding saeson. High points of, and low points of your biking experance? Here my take on "05"

I'm gona give my year in Buell'n a measley 5. Six at best.

I started my season on a high note, on a fresh set piston/rings, and a total frame off make over on my much loved "97" M2 Clone. I did it all by myself over the winter months. It was a fun project. Bring on the riding season. It started out well, I was loving life on my made over Clone, met up with a Buell pal, took in the hill climb races on a nice ride out to the Mtns.

Low point arrived much to early in the young summer. On May 12th I tossed the Clone into the nether world, crashed, destroyed, big firery wreck. Boarded and on the A-bus to the ER. But for the Grace of God this could have been real bad. No more Buell, no riding for 12 weeks, old guys need more time to heal ya know.

High point was not so high at first. I bought a used X1 in July and took my first baby steps in riding once again. Confidence was shook to say the least, tentively, I rode like a frighten little school girle. Only twards the latter part of summer/early fall did I start to get my act togather and begin to turn it up, jest a bit, still somethings a bit off I jest can't pull the trigger/let er rip. Lost confidence is no fun.

The end of the season was the only real high point. I rode down to Danbury Ct. for their Buell day. Met some cool new Buell friends down there that day. Did a nice ride to Bear Mt. those roads rock. The final big long ride was by far the best. Many a BadWeb and ATC buellers were there, It was called Headless Horsemen ride I think. That was realy a great fun time/ride. The Buell Motorcycle enthuesest I met there were ok too.

Guess that sums it up for me, What you guys got?

high point, motorcycling-wise- meeting a bunch of ATCers and Badwebbers at the Headless Horseman Run at the end of the season. Was cool finally meeting Cochise at the airport, and before seeing him off, stopping by OCC's production facility and meeting Vinnie and Paul Jr. during their work day, after Jr. came back in from a smoke break.
Put very few miles on my scoot this year, (bad equalibrium), comparatively.... nice being home in NY, too.

I was very lucky this year -- great round-the-big-water ride with my best friend/better half, aces apex strafing with the same wingman round the greater Galena area for a long 4 day weekend -- found some A-1 roads in that neck o the woods

run o the mill riding was truncated a fair amount by pesky life intruding on the serious bidness of riding . . . . . but it all worked out pretty nicely, so I remain thankful for being treated, in a karmic sense, far better than I deserve ;-}

lucky dog, lucky dog

LOL - the SLO ride was the Bomb! Then I got to meet, sit across from and talk to Erik Buell at an American Sport Bike Night dinner in his honor! I rode all year without a hicup or cough from my Black bike and had a great time doing it! This year - riding wise - a 100% plus on that scale probably making it a 12 - lol

Sorry for your problems Lone...

I'll give my year an 8.

My riding/skill has never been better, I got to spend time with friends at Springfast (even if I didn't ride), partied in the desert with FBRAT, rode Oktoberfast with my wife, and got my MSF certification. The only check I didn't put in the box was a few trackdays. But it's on the agenda for 06!

Your scale doesn't go high enough for me..:>; )..........I bought my Uly and then spent two months putting 16K on her riding all over this amazing country. Met some really cool folks (Oktoberfast)....I mean SOME REALLY COOL FOLKS!!!... and I've spent the last few days deciding if I should ride to Key West next week or not? I think I'm going!

Me and the 3%ers got robbed out of a summer because of all the rain here in the south. All in all it was good. Especially March Badness. I'll rate 05' Buell season a 8 of 10.

Best of the year: Mr. Buell hanging out with us all weekend at March Badness at TWO here in Georgia.

My riding season has been on and off. There were some interesting moments- quitting a job just in time to get a 3 day weekend and make a banzai run to Daytona, getting in a trackday in and using my inferior skill and "inferior" hardware to layeth the smackdown on some "faster" bikes, and hospitalizing a jaywalking pedestrian. I've got a set of scuffed up knee sliders, rashed up leathers, and lots of broken XB parts all from this season. Currently, I love the bike more than ever.

On the other hand, the new job, new house, and new obligations have put a serious damper on my regular riding. I don't think I've done a single Sunday breakfast run all year. I don't ride to the new job nearly as often. I've passed up a ton of good rides. Due to the complete scam that insurance has become I considered selling the bike. As it is, my mileage has suffered tremendously. I normally ride all year, but the bulk of my miles are put on during spring/summer/fall. This "season" I've only put on some ~6k miles. Also, I just received a letter from the DMV stating that my current insurance company isn't licensed to do business in NC, which is why they turned down my registration renewal leaving my bike with expired tags.

Overall I'd give this riding season a 4.

Spending the weekend with the 3%ers and getting to meet and talk with Erik Buell during March Badness made this year a 10 out of 10 for me.

That was a perfect weekend. I definitely plan on doing it again next year!

I would have to rate my year a 5-6, I started the season out w/ a new set of gaskets for both cylinders, so it was a good start. About 1/2 way through the summer, lost all power Electricity wise, and had to replace the stator, volt reg, and battery. then it picked up again, but then muffler broke apart, and oil light keeps coming on, and the bike got prematurely put up for the winter in late sept. Didn't ride anywhere interesting this past year, only went on a couple rides w/ spidy so it wasn't a great summer for me. Hopefully when i get the X1 back up adn running and i can get it sold.. then i can get a new bike XB BABY then i will be stylin once again.

March Badness 2 was the high point of the season.
Rained more this summer than ever in history.
I'll give it a 5.
Only 120 days 'til March Badness III

This season clocks in at a ringing "0" - big, fat zip, zero, nada, bobcus, rien, ikke en eneste lille skid ...

The furthest I spun a wheel on a Buell was a few feet back and forth in the garage.

Danny-What a good idea for a thread subject!

Any summer that I get to ride is a 10. This year I rode about 13,500mi. I only drove my car to work 4 times from May 1 - Sep. 30.

I went out to Arizona and met a great bunch of Buellers at the AZ Springfast. Rode with Bartimus, met the infamous Ferris, Denise, Al from American Sport Bike, Mikel, Don, Kobe, Dave, Jeremy (this is starting to sound like an awards show) and a few I don't remember their names. I really appreciate the effort people make to organize a ride like that.

Got to ride for the first time in NW Arkansas with some guys in the Waterloo Buell group. That will be definite do over next year.

Then I turned an 800mi. trip into a 1,500mi. one by going thru WI, MN, ND, SD, NE and back home instead of straight up to MN and back.

I'll give mine a 9, just because this summer didn't top last summer's trip.

I got my first new Buell, my Firebolt, put close to 10,000 miles on it, was at the factory a few times, including hanging there with Erik, Ferris (on his first ever trip) and Dave S all by our selves. And Erik talking to Brian on his way to New Orleans for Katrina cleanup.

I got to reconnect with some Buelligans who have completely made my adventure so far, Erik, Dave, Ferris, Bartimus, Jeff Griswold, the Waterloo boys, the rest of the KC gang and a ton of others. And of course Mike and Drew's random trips out here.

This is my first year out of school; the first time to live real life. Work is good, but has gotten in the way of my bike habit a bit... Things change next year.

For 2006, I'm gunning for an 11. The Cyclone is getting rebuilt, monsterfied and back on the road, Moto GP, BRATPACII and lots and lots of more miles. Booyah.
Alex
