big,
we were late getting there, probably around 12. hung around till 1:30. we had a great 110mph run up a 3 mile long steep straight hill. was great to hold the throttle to it's stop for so long. pretty proud of the old dyna keepin up at triple digits. even more impressed with tramps bike running that speed up a steep hill for several miles(not bad for an original motor with almost a quarter million miles).

WOW! Sounds like fun! I don't think I got er up to triple digits today, maybe 90 on the way home doing a little freeway merging...(had a long gap in front of me getting back on the pkwy, atleast untill I came up on that trooper, but I guess I saw him first)

110 on the buell feels "normal", 110 on the dyna and you'd swear your hair is on fire. crappy suspension and parachute like drag combine to make it a squirely ride. fun! it still amazes me after all these years just how crappy the suspension is on a stock harley. the front and rear suspension seems to be created by different design teams working on different bikes.

construction market here is very good. ever thought of starting your own company. most guys here seem to only have a few machines and don't seem to have any problems staying busy. not sure what the "rates" are though, sorry. i'm on the other end, i'm often the last sub on site before the closing, seamless gutters.

Jester- you'r always welcome here. my grandpa is a retired excavator. owned pretty much the only excavating firm in the OC in the 40s. we could find you plenty o' work. hell, i might be able to dig up an old D8. still tight with plenty o' excavators here. there are still some cool, redneck towns here where you can buy places affordably. Us natives can steer you to the cool litttle villages like Florida, NY, et al. I promise to get more organized so's we have some sort of lodging arranged for guests here, in the future.
my recently freed-up motorcycling time is driving me to shoot for seasonal or monthly theme runs, and i'd like to see a situation where badwebbers, atcers, brag guys, etc., get to take advantage of some hospitality, as m/cs provide members. i'll get something good going thattaways.
JT- can you believe we're distantly related?
it was really an honour meeting you.
i'm bummed we missed ray et al. hey- next time, fo'sho'!
next time i'll ride ahead to perkins while you all enjoy breakfast (ooooooooooooooohh...)
serioiusly, though- great meeting youze and youze's, tony. cool bike. we'll have more warm riding days this autumn. trees are still mostly green. i love indian summer, and the smell of dogs on the hibachi at bear mtn.

where's thisss all comin from... tramp and hammer together in a public area is too funny, they will definitely find trouble if it is at all available. runch anyone.
tramp, whats with this "new found time for riding". ok lotto winner, go get the uly, we need a beta tester.
gotta log onto ebay soon and check out those s2 front ends. you have spoiled my simple plan of selling the dyna cause it don't work. now i must begin the spiraling trail of customization. damn you....

best part is...i got home to the 'loaf, and there were easily 40 scoots parked in front of and all around the bransider tavern....both in cycle spots and across the street.
I railed my S2 up the boardwalk (!) and skidded here sideways to a spot in the crosswalk, parked her, and realized the dipsh*ts on all the harleys were the peeps I saw earlier at Perkins. You know...the black bandana-pulled-down-over-the -forehead- caucasian-wannabe-vato style....
Injun Mort pulled up with his '48 chief and we had further chcukles.
those new-era-wannabe-badasses are everywhere.
anyway, me and the ms. blasted down to sleepy hollow to attend the actual headless hroseman weekend event, with the storytellers and the reeanactments, and the singing pirates, etc. it was great, and afterward, we hit 'the horseman' diner, and the mamager remarked on what a polite, quiet, nice crowd of peeps we all were, last weekend. I guess our arrival there had the hideous fragrance of mad max's outback toecutter revival dance, so the relief upon experiencing the gents and ladies of badweatherbiker/americanthunderbike was refreshing.
souvlaki, anyone?
mike, hammer, johnnylunch and mrs.,duc, bigblock, jt, etc...next sunday?
If it's nice, I say we blow off the bizarre poseurdom of bear mtn. on an autumn sunday and just go hit 218, the goat trail, maybe some of the harriman state park system's twisties, although the heat lurks therein....

All you guys (with the exception of those present at the time) missed my Crocodile Hunter moment. Coming down Perkins I saw a car coming up stopped and gesturing wildly at the ground. I noticed a 5 foot + Black Racer doing the no-traction shimmy up the inclined blacktop (Why did the Black Racer cross the road???). I stopped the bike and got off, now backing up traffic severely. I was trying to help it along with a gentle nudge of my boot, but these are extremely aggressive snakes and quite quick. Instead of appreciating my help, he turned on me and assumed the classic tight strike posture and froze there. I let him strike my boot a few times, which probably wasn't the best idea, since it may cause injury to the snake, but I was thinking that maybe he'll calm down a bit and I'll be able to nudge him off the road. No dice. I finally came to my senses and grabbed a stick and was able to lift him through one of the coils and placed him in the woods. It was a nice show for the Asian sightseers excitedly snapping their pictures as a helmeted goofball played with a snake.
