Oz, having just looked at my 99S3 lever and the one on my 04XB12R, they sure look the same. Except for color. Every time my dealer has come across an obsolete part for my S3 there was a reference to a new part. In fact if there wasn't a replacement part I would think they would/should say "discontinued" instead. | ||

Unibear, I made that mistake with the lever from an X1 and my XB. They looked the same, but they did not fit the same. I would want to make certain that they were in fact interchangeable since an ill fitting lever can cause the brake to lock. | ||

The levers are NOT obsolete. Sounds like you got stuck with a lazy parts "service" person. The old number has been superceded. big difference between an obsolete part number, and an obsolete part -- many couterpersons make that mistake -- patience, information, and a wad of cash in hand go a long way to helping rectify the situation | ||

You could try a Yamaha lever (Diversion 900) or an aftermarket item from CRG. The XB clutch lever will fit, but don't try the brake lever from an XB as they are different! |
