I got TPS sensor trouble codes for a long time until I replaced my cam position sensor. There's no code for it, but it fails more often than the TPS. They usually smell burnt when they go.

And they backfire.

Putting them on a cheap scope makes it pretty obvious when you are having a problem.

As in DECEL POPPING?

How about inconsistent idle issues...

One day all is good. The next coughing and dying or the next reving up at idle. Both after warm up or riding.

Inconsistent idle? Absolutely. Popping on decel? Only to the degree you are trying to accelerate but the motor is cutting out completely, then making a *really* loud bang when the ignition finally decides to fire again.

It'll rattle windows from a quarter mile away... DAMHIK.

Replaced it with a BWD EC3191 TPS Sensor. $81.67 at Oreilly's. It is the same model used on BMW's vehicles and bikes. Far cheaper than at the STEALERSHIP.

Hooked her up to SPY, voltage is now in the normal range of 3.8-4.0 volts. Idle is smooth at 1045-1145 RPM's. Took her out for 20 minute run at different speeds from 55 -135 and did a bunch of roll ons etc.

Came back, hooked her back up to SPY, volts were steady at 3.8ish and idling at normal setting.

One thing I did see on SPY with the older replaced one, the volts were any where from 4.2 to 5.2 and fluctuating. Redflag right there actually.

Oh yeah, YOU DO NOT have to take the Throttle Body out in order to R&R the TPS Sensor. Just use an open ended 7mm wrench and take your time. The retainer screws come out as does the body of sensor if you twist the body gently. To replace the body and lower screw, just take your time and all goes in just fine.
