Hey, y'all...I'm new here...used to run a HD-centric shop and now it's just a hobby.
Sold my '40 Knuck and '48 UL, but still have a '64FLH.
Anyway...I've agreed to mentor a local kid in a High School project to build an electric motorcycle and I'm struggling for a platform.
I had in my mind a blown-up Japanese bike with a HD 4- or 5-speed trans shoehorned in, but then I thought about a Blast.
Do they have a separate trans like a Big Twin, or does it share a case like a Sportster?
If it shares, is there any way to preform separation surgery?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Being 1/2 a sportster as I like to put it, it does share. I have yet to do any surgery except clutch adjustments so I am no help there.

Separation surgery would be tough.
The primary, clutch and tranny all share the same oil bath. Just like a sporty with the exception of the tranny not being a cassette type.
Since it's electric, is there really a need to shift?

As far as I can tell, electric motors like a certain final drive ratio...this seems to keep their top speed down in the 45-55 range. A transmission would make the bike highway friendly.
Still researching...
Thanks for the help, y'all.
