2006 uly had a slow start for a week or so like the battery was starting to go it had the original battery so i went ahead and replaced it now when i hit the switch the starter clicks several times like the solinoid is working but the starter dont spin if i put the bike in gear and start it rolling with the clutch barely out it will start any ideas |

Swap your relays. Check your ground connections, especially at the battery negative cable's frame side. Attach a car battery to your battery terminals with proper battery cables, not just jumpers, and hit the starter switch. If the solinoid is just dirty the extra juice may knock some sense into it. The cable from your starter switch may be chafed around the steering neck. Take the smaller wire off the starter and check it for resistance to ground. |

I had similar symptoms on my X1. All it was was a loose terminal on the battery. Tightened it up, and no more problem. If you replaced your battery, then I would check other points that could have vibrated loose like Harleyelf said. Good hunting. |
