I am looking at stepping my xb12 down to the the 9 gearing either way. That is not that this threads is about. I have seen where a few people who are running the aluminum primary gears and clutch baskets to help with the rotation mass...the cost isnt that much more that buying a factory xb9 gear. Anyone have any negatives before i order. I have heard there has to be a little machine work done because they are made for the sportser primary case but that doesnt bother me. Anything else?

Yes - it's not going to do much. The change in stored inertia ~ roughly as the square of the RPM, and the 4th power of the diameter.
The clutch turns too slowly for best effect; 38/56 means the effect of a weight change at the clutch is only 45% as much as similar weight off the crank at the same radius.
The engine sprocket turns fast enough, but far too small to do much.
Summary: it helps, but very $$ per quanta of effect.

You can drill out the engine sprocket.Saves weight, costs less.

Another,comparative look

As you can see,the unmodified engine sprocket in the middle has so many unwanted beef.
