Just come across a post on UKBEG,about an XB9 engine failure, crank ,b/ends ect.The South African owner was told " no warranty, because he had been riding at 4000rpm for over 10 minutes ,and Buell lubrication can't take that" Is this B/S,
Do any of you guys ride above 4000rpm for prolonged periods.I have ridden my old sportster hard on UK motorways ,for a couple of hundred miles, when going home after bike meets,it always stayed in one piece.
Whats the concensus on max cruising revs
Cheers
Lee

That should have nothing to do with warranty. That person needs to contact H-D or Buell Customer service and get something done if it is still under factory warranty. If it's an extended warranty it may be a bit tougher to fight...but speaking to a manager of the claims department would be a start. It's not an H-D, it's a Buell, and 4000rpm is nothing especially for a nine.

My S1 rarely saw below 4000 RPM and and has done long stints on the highway at around 5500 RPM. Mine was done in I believe by frequent stints at redline.

Yes, I try not to let it drop below 4000 RPM. I've got 44,000 miles on the bike.

The dealers words are B/S.
