After 13,000 trouble free mechanical miles, I decided to have the bronze oil pump gear installed as an insurance policy. While having the rocker boxes off, I also decided to upgrade the rockers with the roller type.

The OEM steel gear showed no sign of wear at 13,000 miles,I still did the upgrade.

The motor is quieter with the roller rockers installed, no rocker box noise.

I have not ridden the bike yet due to weather conditions

What kind of roller rockers did you use, how much are they.

I used:

These are hand built and by far the best on the market. They were $399.00.

I was at the shop when Dan and Wes were designing the jigs for setting up and welding the roller tips on the rockers.

Baisleys' work with Zipper and Axtell in developing products.

The engine runs quieter since the roller rockers have been installed.

My bike runs well, no stumbles or hesitations from idle to redline. Since riding with the new rockers, the engine feels like it pulls smoother and quicker. It may be just because the engine has less valve train noise.

The upgrade, from my experience, was money well spent.

Are they the same ratio as the originals Heyfred?

Any change will effectively give you a different amount of lift I am told.

I had the stock ratio made.

You would have to contact them for ratio options.

Rollerizing the rocker tip doesn't buy anything in terms of friction or heat reduction actually... it's all in the main trunnion, which is already mounted on a shaft, so I'm not sure how much frictional savings you can reap by going this route.

Actually it reduces the side loading on the valve stems and makes for a more direct vertical load on the valve stem.

This in turn makes for the same lift with less effort/drag on the valve train.
