Read a random thread in a search here the other day with someone asking what it would look like should you paint on the unseen side of the translucent bodywork, such as Hero Blue. I gave it a whirl on my Zero Gravity windscreen since I most likely wont be using it (good torso protection but horrid buffeting on my skull). The outcome looks like it was professionally painted a dark blue/purple... the visible side that is. I used Flat Black Rustoleum on the back side and honestly the results look really good. You don't have a translucent look anymore but the body work still retains its gloss and smoothness basically looking like it was factory.. I'd be interested to know what other color combinations would do. I'll post a pic or two here in a bit. I'm thinking about doing my airbox cover like this.... maybe. Just copy/pasting what I said on Buelletinboard... The factory body work turned out more dark blue than the Zero Gravity windscreen did... where it had some purple to it. Either way, I like it more than Hero Blue. Hero is really nice looking but, just not my tastes for a motorcycle I own. Ultimately I want dark maroon/red and flat black all around =] These aren't in direct sunlight so the dark dark dark blue looks ... well.. black.    | ||

This is a common practice in the RC world. Included liquid mask, stickers, flames and such. If you are inclined to this checkout your local RC shop. Joe | ||

Lots of possibilities there. I'm wondering what a white pearl undercoat would look like through say, the translucent orange. Hmmm.  | ||

My only beef with what I have done is the fact that the etching gas drops have caused in the plastic (before I purchased it, don't look at me!) are more visible now and just makes my bike look dirty up close D= | ||

Novus #3 if they are really bad, then Novus #2, and a lot of patience following the instructions carefully with a good clean soft cotton rag. Take it off the bike, bring it in the living room, but in a good DVD, and spend a couple relaxed hours on it. Follow up with Harley Sealer glaze. You can bring the spots you can get at to near perfect (but around the stickers and the X it can be hard to get in there effectively). | ||

I did my cherry bomb red airbox cover with satin black krylon fusion. It looks like black cherry (DUH), and in the sun... amazing   |
