Does anyone know if the hand protectors (dont know what else to call them) on the Uly can be retro-fited to fit my 2001 x1. If not, are there any other options to deflect the wind off my hands. I like to ride all year round and the wind on my hands cancels out the heated grips, at times.

Knowledgeable folk have been contacted and will hopefully find their way here. : )

I'm not sure Jason, but I'd be surprised if you couldn't adapt the Uly/CityX hand guards to your X1. The bar-end portion would surely be workable, and I don't see anything preventing the inboard attachment from working either. But I've not seen it or done it myself, so I'm just guessing.

Those hand guards are likely not at all expensive and probably in high demand by XBuellers, so if they don't work out, they could surely be sold. : ) Let us know what you determine. : )

I put them on my M2. Perfect fit - love them.

I put on the plastic gaurds that come with the uly. (according to the dealer the Uly and the city x are different part numbers.) They were a simple bolt on part. Nothing strange happened and it went on a little TO easy. Scary i know.

I tried to put them on my M2 which the Blast handlebars, and they don't fit. They are too long for the bars. I have some knurled bar ends to make them the right length, but still haven't figured out how to attach them at the bar-end end. I was going to sort of copy the kit American Sport Bike sells for adapting handguards to bar-end mirrors. But haven't done it yet.

Where can you get the hand guards that come on the new Buell bikes? I was thinking about them too for my bike.

American Sport Bike sells the whole kit, it's actually cheaper, and faster, than buying the parts individually from Vallejo Buell. I found this out the hard way.

I installed them on my M2 also. They went on my stock handlebars with no problems at all.
