Sometime down the road (hopefully later than sooner) I'll be needing a crank on the 'ol S1 as she is on the loose side already. What's the difference between the press fit tube frame crank and XB12 cranks? I know the XB cranks are a bit lighter, but the tube frame cranks are much more expensive. Why? Are the timing marks and keyway slots different?

I know that with some mods an X1 crank can be fit to an XB9.

That is exactly what Terry G at Hal's did to my engine before the XB12 existed.

If you are really interested you should talk to him about it.

The major difference is the sprocket shaft design as the tubers use the Timken style bearing while the XBs use a single row roller bearing (so the sprocket shaft diameter and design is different). You can not install a XB crank into a tuber case without major modifications (machine work required).
