FWIW, Geico never penalized me for having a 'crotch rocket' when I had my CBR--many other companies quoted an additional five hundred bucks 'due to the purpose for which the motorcycle was created'. For liability only, I paid eighty bucks a year. Progressive and AmFam (who we had auto ins through) quoted me 500-600 a year, so the choice was pretty simple. I'll likely go back to Geico when I pick up the Uly unless a local agent can cut me some killer deal.

Call Dairyland direct (not thru an agency). They also understand Buell vs. Rice. My xb12Ss has basic min coverage for $295 per year, and the Blast is $91... in rural-ish Maryland.

I have state farm and $100 deductible and only pay 460 a year. with state farm the "risk level" of the bike is not an issue (at least in Michigan) I have called pricing out insurance to feel out pricing. my wife likes the hayabusa so I checked on that a V-Rod lightning 9 and 12 CBR 600 and 1000 and ktm superduke R and ducati hypermotard. the highest was $520 a year (the ducati) the lowest was the CBR600 and 1000 (the same price) $435. I have tickets every two or three years for speeding and on accident still on my record. I am by no means a mark free driver. a rider safety course will not lower my deductible with state farm so I have not taken one yet (next summer I will take the advanced safety course)and I am only 24.

Currently Geico doesn't classify the buell as a "sportbike". Also try looking into Harley's insurance program. Statefarm is nationwide also and often times will insure based upon engine size. I realize it differs from state to state. I say call everybody. The time spent is well worth the possible money saved. $6,000 per year is absurd. I have both the firebolt and lightning fully covered at twice the state minimums and a $500 detuctible. Looking at $700 annualy through Geico.

I never do full coverage on any of my bikes, just what Ca makes me put on it and it's always about a $100 a year from Mc Graw
