Will the Top Case mount on the 06' Ulysses without the side cases? Anyone have a picture of this setup?

I just finished installing the 3 piece set, and the top case supports tied into the side bags support, so I do not think you can mount just the top case without making your own stuff.
The top case looks a bit dorky anyway, and is kinda narrow. The side bags are absolutely huge.
The mounting brackets did not fit all that well, and I had to slot out 2 or 3 holes to fit up the set.

You can mount the top case w/o putting the side cases on the bike, though it appears you have to have the side case mounting brackets attached.

Buell says not to ride with just the top case attached. I assume it's an aerodynamic or weight distribution issue. People do do it though, so perhaps Buell is being overly cautious, as you would expect them to be.

happy trails has a top mount bracket works well for that application, but you loose the triple tail. but it moves the load forward and allows you to use it as a backrest. There is a guy in our area (Oly pen Wa) that is running one.

I run just the top case most of the time and have not had any problems. I am careful not to overload it. I do have the side cases so the brackets are visible when I am not using them.

Not to hijack, but has anyone looked into putting some sort of LED lighting inside the reflector on the top case? I'm thinking a BackOff box wired to the brakelight, with a wiring disconnect under the seat to keep it removable. Dunno about elsewhere but here in Maryland, it seems like an SUV is a "motorcycle hunting permit"; every bit of visibility is a good thing as far as I'm concerned.

To Ratbuell, I have a couple of Givi topcases (that move around among my 'fleet') & I have a light fixed on top which is a combo STOP and license plate light, but with the license light facing forward .. .it shines on my back & illuminates the reflective highlight striping on my jacket, makes me stand out like a Xmas tree (or mebbe a better target?). The light is cabled thru the topcase to a short lead out the front & via a quick detack socket that is in turn spliced into the bikes wiring .. so what ya get is an additional HIGH level brake light plus a running-light on the rider! HTH, BrooC in NZ ; ))
