If they're like mine they might have come with a bracket that I don't use with mine. What I do (which may or may not be correct per the instruction sheet) is:
1. throw the bags over the rear of the seat and adjust the spacing so that the tops of the bags just start to hang level with the seat top or there abouts.
2. take the cinch straps at the lower inside front corners of the bags and run them down to the upper tubes that mount the passenger pegs.
3. take the cinch straps that run from the upper inside rear of the bags and run that around the back of the bike and tuck it in behind the license plate.
4. then I fill the bags with stuff, and then snug everything down very well.
5. I also put a "safety strap" between the carry handles on each bag just in case the velcro decides to detach, which it hasn't, but it still makes me more comfortable.
6. Once I get a few miles on them around town I do a final cinch, then knot off the excess strapping and tie it off allowing me to just use the snaps to remove the bags when not in use.

The bracket that may or may not have come with yours attaches under the bike and has a finger on each side that slips into a pocket on the inside of the bags. I don't use this, but others do.

Note: everyplace where I said "inside" refers to the outside surface of the bags that face the bike, not the surface on the actual inside of the bags. Probably obvious but thought I'd state it anyway.

I don't have any pics handy, but can probably take some this weekend if nobody else does by then.

Hope this helps some. I've also got a set of RKA bags that I functionally mount sort of in the same way.

Fasted - Did you ever figure out the way the way they were supposed to be mounted ? I am trying to track down a set of instructions myself. Not that Mike's way won't work - I just want to know the supposed 'proper way'.

I am going to post a new question just looking for directions .. hopefully someone with a scanner still has them and can e-mail them.

I replied to the other thread:

I'll try to get the instructions I have scanned and posted tomorrow.

I posted this to both of the luggage threads:

Okay, the saddle bags I had were the "BUELL M2 CYCLONE BALLISTIC SADDLEBAG KIT 90509-99Y". And the hidden straps you mention are there too.

Here is a link to the sheet of instructions that came with them:

That is a full sized scan, if you save the image and print it you'll have a copy that is as legible as mine is.

Jack
