Hello,
What is the best way to remove the bottom steering head bearing? I do not have a bearing removal tool and was told that the bearing will be destroyed anyway. Just need to get it out and put in new dust shields and bearings. Also what is the best grease for these and best method to apply? One more thing, can these bearings be found in Auto Parts stores as well as bike shops?

Thanks for any info.

I just pop it out gradually moving around with a socket extension and a hammer... If need be, can even put a socket at the end.

Look for trailer wheel bearings at the local hardware or farm supply store (like Rural King). They're 1" if I recall.

L44643 bearing
L44610 race

Good luck!

Get the sealed variety, they fit perfectly and you won't have to worry about them again (unless you do lots of wheelies, that hammers them...).

Check this link for more info.
