as a former rice rocketeer, i was wondering if clutchless UP-shifting on the new xb12x would be safe, or if the prevailing sentiment would be to use the clutch lever on all shifts, up and down? ive kinda forgotten what up-shifting is all about.

thanks,
chris

I pretty much always use the clutch on my '04 12R. Sometimes I'll skip it but very rarely and ONLY above second. Never first to second.

We have different transmissions though, so I take that with a grain of salt...

BECAREFUL as XB evolved engines do not have TRAP DOORS !!! THATS MEANS IF YOU HAVE TO SPLIT THE
CASES TO GET TO THE TRANSMISSION GEARS !!!

Does anyone have a racing shifter that cuts off the ignition for the shift?
Does it even exist for buells?

I speed shift 2nd through 5th regularly on my x1, but always go to just above 5k rpm before shifting to make things smoother. No signs of extra wear so far. I wouldn't suggest it 1st to 2nd or you'll find neutral and bounce off of redline.

Different trannys though so don't know if a uly will accept the same kind of treatment.

No problem on my 07 XB. Not sure if it would be as smooth on the 05 and back as they had straight cut gears.
