I wanted to get a show of interest before I got back to the instructor.
He is a real nice guy, I was working with him on this last year.
He is also friends with the T.W.O. crowd.
We would probably save the cost of the class in insurance the first year.
Can I get a show of hands? |

What color are you trying to end up with?
Ideally almost black but with a blue hue.
I am going to use Navy and Black dye.
I want a darker color, not black and not as blue as Michael's
Before anyone says it- NO I'm not adding red, I'm not too into riding a purple bike. |

What colors would you recommend using to achieve the desired outcome???
I think even if the black has the look of a dark purple adding the extra blue would counteract any of the 'red' that may bleed though.
I am looking for a dark 'midnight' color with a hint of blue in the sun/light. |

To be honest, dark blue paint.
If you must use dye, just take your spare tail, cut it up, and experiment.
The nature of plastic is such that no two will be the same. If I was to do exactly what Odie did, I would come up with something different.
Dye has to have dye-sights, think of it as little ports for dye to land in. Fabric has many, many dye-sights, that's why it takes dye so well. Plastic hasn't the same properties, it has very few dye-sights, also molded plastic isn't the same part to part, even if you use the same mold, it's just the way it is. You may get close to what you are after, you may not.
Hope that made sense.
Dye ain't paint, and when you use a fabric dye on plastic, you take chances.
Captain Planet dyed his white bike red and got orange!

hey guys..we do the advanced rider course on an as desired basis..i.e. if there are 10-12 people interested, they'll go ahead and book a class. Don't you know we've got it all? |

Glitch-
Had to let all that sink into my brain a bit.
All of those reasons is why I want to get replacement parts and do them all at once. Then if I do mess it up it's no big deal.
That Kameleon Paint looks cool.
My best friend owes me a paint job on a bike so I might just hit her up for it. |

I have spoken with Karen multiple times about the Advanced Rider course at SMHD/B and she has told me it is not offered.
But if you find out otherwise please let us know the details.

Stealth - I'd probably be in for the course. It's gonna be tough to beat the MSF price though.
Mancuso HD threw in a RE course a few years ago when I bought the XB, and it was like $300+. I wouldn't have paid to take the class, but for free...
Actually it turned out to be pretty decent. I have been riding one thing or another since I was 5, but they've all been "off-road". The XB was my first "legal" street bike. I went into the RE class thinking I knew it all, but actually learned quite alot on the range. |

Ok..as I said before, it's an "as desired" course. We can do it, there just wsn't necesarrily the same interest level before. I already spoke to 2 instructors (1 of whom teaches it at Honda also..)who said they would be more than happy to help us out. And for the record we ARE an MSF school. I told you already, we got it all. LOL |

OK, the install is very straight forward.
Very simple, but difficult as far as the lack of space.
I didn't take the fuel line off. Don't think it would have made that much difference.
Only rode around the block, it's cold, and I had no gear. Just my machanic jacket and helmet. But let me tell you what! It pulls MUCH stronger. I'm calling Steve in the morning.
