My old roomate is a hotair balloon pilot with his own balloon. I can call in a favor and he could do a tether. Usually they are 100-200ft up depending on the wind. We could put a huge Buell banner on the side of the balloon that could be seen for miles. Just a thought. OR my best friend has a killer band and they will play anytime they get exposure. I could get them to do a freebie, probably.

Hey I was just kidding about the balloon thing but it does sound like a good idea when it's 'Tim the Tool man Taylor' size.

We should probably ask about doing this at the Broome building on a Sat. when they don't have a Rider's Edge class.
Torquer, Can you ask Karen what dates she doesn't have a class on Sat. That will probably be the first thing to do is find out when we can even have this shin dig.

If Barb Zok has no time, or interest, could we at least get some sort of outline to what needs to be done?
If I could get that I could at least get the ball rolling, and get the names of those that really want to get involved in the thankless part. It'll also require some meetings of those of us on the thankless list to meet at least once a week. Dedication to the event is a must.

Call me what you will, but I don't think we need to mesh with something that's already been planned/being planned. That sounds to me to be a recipe for disaster. I would think if we were going to hold hands with HOG for an event it would need to start out that way. Just my .02

B_S, give your buddys a call and see if they are truely willing.

We also need a route map. Is this going to be a one day event? Weekend event? Week event?
Surely not a weak event.

A4RT, let's try to pull this one off on our own, as far as getting other groups involved. GSB is a great group, as is Rider's Edge. Too many Chiefs could make it a nightmare. Once we get this one under our belt and know more what to expect, then we can expand a little. Let's keep this one as simple as possible.

All of this is of course we are talking about the ride around Georgia we talked about. If it's just an open house sort of thing with little or no riding involved, then by all means, the more the marrier. I can talk with David, head of GBS, tomorrow night at their meeting at the Flying Machine.

Oh I wasn't talking about getting them 'involved' in the planning or organization but there are always Vendor booths at these types of things and Riders Edge and GA Sportbike would be good booths to have.

If we are going to make this an 'event' we need to have 'stuff' for people to check out. At the HOG stuff they have the sticker table, the tattoo guy, the picture guy and other 'stuff'. I don't think the same things would appeal to sportbike riders so I was just trying to come up with some vendors that sportbike riders would be interested in getting information about.
They could just have a table set-up with information.

I have no intention of getting too many cooks in the kitchen by any means.

As far as Barb Zok goes she gets PAID to do event planning for the dealership and HOG. It isn't a matter of if she has time or not it's her job.

A4TR...Do you know Steve Holbrook? "the picture guy/custom frame guy" at the Hog meetings and events? That is my Dad. He would probably do a booth if you wanted to open that can of worms. I not sure how that will fly w/the sportbike community, though?

Glitch....I just scored my buddies band, Soulshine a regular paying gig at the bar I had my B-day party at. He owes me a big one so I am 97% sure he will do it. It will just have to not conflict with other gigs.

So, we need a date.
Also, is this going to be a destination or a ride?
Booths would be a welcome thing at a destination type event ie: Open House affair.
Booths at a ride event would be at the end of the event?
GBS is a very loosely organised group. Most of their stuff is done on their message board, much like what we are doing here, if we are talking about the same group. They are a great group of people, with them it's not what you ride, it's that you ride. A few of them took demo rides at TWO this past spring. I'm a member so I'll talk to them to find out how interested they are in partisipating, or just joining in the fun.
B_S, as soon as we have a date give 'em a call.
A4TR, thanks, I didn't know she was paid. Makes it a little simpler already. But at the same time "our" photographer was paid also, and she bailed. I'm just preparing myself to go it alone, at least this time anyway.

B_S so your mom must be Sue Holbrook???
I don't 'know' them but I would probably recognize them if I saw them.

Might I suggest since the official meeting is next week, everyone write down all their resources, ideas, ect and bring them with? Be prepared to have a serious sit down meeting.
We could meet just about anywhere there is a table big enough for all of us.
Sound good?

A4TR...Sue is "technically" my step-mom but I don't know her very well. Only met a few times.

Glitch...works for me. Maybe I will actually make a 3% meeting for a change.

Just in case no one knew there is a stunt show on Tues. July 27th @ 8:00p.m. at the Wing Restaurant by Cycle Gear in Lawrenceville.

And to think I wouldn't know about this if I hadn't tried to get in touch with GSB!
I'm there, are ya'll?

Okay. All this sounds good. If we do a charity ride lasting longer than a day with an event at the homecoming or just a "sport bike enthusiasm" day intro-ing the new model year of Buells. Either way, let me start at the beginning with Barb and the dealership. Even if Barb is paid to do dealer events, we need to make sure the dealership is up to paying her for this type of event. We may need to handle it on our own. i know we could do it. Before a date is set we ought to know what we're doing. I think we could do the "enthusiasm" day on fairly short notice. A charity event may take some more time to get together. If we do an "enthusiasm" event, we need to think about how to reach the people we want to show up. Then, we need to think about what they will want out of the experience. ie: food, beer,a stunt show, custom helmet airbrushing, a GSB booth, a band, a hot air balloon?, dyno runs, burnout contests, pocket racers, battletrax, biatches!!! And of course the ol' how to fund the event. Entry fee? : ( dealer sponsored? : ) I agree. let's get our resource lists together and meet this next week and get an preliminary concept event sketched out for me to present to the dealership and see what I can get going on that end. Then depending on what is already on the plate, we can try to work out a date, then start arranging the schedule for the different folks we want and need to participate.

Monday the 2nd, our meeting day is also a trackday at Road Atlanta. This sounds like our first event scheduling conflict. : )
