The winner is David Johnson of Moscow, Idaho, also known here as SPUDMAN.

Finally a moment on the computer.

Splash 2004 has passed, and this was a very different year than all past Splash events.

Kimberlie: You deserve the "Trooper of the Year" award.
Outstanding attitude in the face of fear and uncertainty!
I'm still amazed at your tenacity to drive all the way to Packwood for Saturday night's BBQ.

As a major crash survivor myself, I found it much easier to get back on and ride knowing that the cause of my crash was rider error. We're in control of rider error, and we can learn from our mistakes and become better riders for it.
If it had been some putz in a cage that took you out, you may have always had difficulty getting past it.

Remember, there are only two kinds of riders.
Those that have crashed… and those that are going to.
Welcome to the club. We are honored to have you as a member!

Chris & Loni: I'm very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go with you.
Also special thanks as always for the wonderful reception at Woodland.
You both do such a fantastic job of welcoming us all.
Cheers.

Gary: (Acidburn) you're a keeper!
That was the best BBQ ever.
We all had a fabulous time Saturday night and you are the man to thank for that.
The Tequila however is another thing.
Could you please ensure that there’s a child resistant cap on it next time. OK.

SportyEric: No need to apologize.
Just glad that you didn’t encounter any Gremlins on your Super Splash ride.

Rocky: Email me with your address and I'll get a Splash2003 DVD in the mail to you.

There are just so many people to thank and comment on their extraordinary contribution to this group that I could be here all day.
So with that I’ll give an extra big THANKS to everyone for making SPLASH the best motorcycling weekend of the year.

Cheers, and we’ll see you all at Border Raid.
FunJimmy

OK, I admit it. I just can't keep a secret.

I wasn't going to say anything but I can't keep quiet any longer. I was on Mt. St. Helens last Saturday video taping the events of the day.

p.s. Kims crash is at the 2:20 mark. Was that FunJimmy at 4:37?

FunJimmy - I learned a lot about myself and my bike.....

1 - slow down - it is better to have people wait for me then come back to find me in the middle of the road.

2 - A speed triple is not also a dual sport.

3 - A crotch is not meant to hit a tank at excessive speeds.

4 - Squirrels are not part of my food chain - run them over and oh yeah, they always move.

5 - Never ride over you ability.

6 - Never tell the police how fast you were really going.

7 - Don't be ashamed of what you did, but be willing to accept it and learn from it.

8 - Insurance companies suck butt and don't have any idea how much gear and motorcycles really cost.

9 - When you crash it really screws things up for everyone else - so slow your butt down.

10 - Um and oh yeah, I am not Mrs. Rossi or Mrs. Debi G. so don't try and ride like I am!

Life is interesting and I am always learning. My sense of humor will pull me through especially if Mr. Bob is around.

Keep smiling

Kimberlie

ps.... looks like they might total my bike, I haven't cried yet, but when I heard that I started crying. I can't imagine riding something else. I love everything about my bike, except that it is broken. And for the record, I measured my head and Mikes head and the result are in..... Mike 23 inches around and Kimberlie 22 7/8 inches. So see I have a fat head and lots of brains. I will use them next time I am out riding. : )

Insuranc company is trying to only give me $200 for gear and will replace my helmet, the guy says, "they cost like $200 right?" - yeah NOT!

Hi Everyone! Well we made it to Fresno Monday night at 7:30, and have not stopped but to sleep, eat and pee. The family is doing fine. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!

Spudman, I hope that quilt keeps you warm. I am glad that you won it, congratulations. I second what Ferris said! Hugs and Kisses my friend.

Kim, Please try and not let the ins. comp rip you off! Can you prove what everything cost? If they do total the bike are you thinking of what is next? I am so glad that you want to get back on the horse agian. YOU GO GIRL!!!

S1, is the Blast for you or Tracie? She does need to get her own ride. Hows her Butt doing? Sure hope she recovered.

Well, time to get to the airport and pick up Nicole. Chris and I will be here until this Sunday and then going over to Carmel for a few days. Might take the coast line home, and I may just ride my bike the whole way!

Total Crap...... I just got off the phone with Skamania County regarding the ticket that I received for doing 40 in a 35 and marked, "speed to fast for conditions". The actual posted speed is 40 miles per hour up there, however on the back of my infraction the officer wrote on there "safe speed for this corner is actually 35". I told the lady on the phone that the corner is not marked and also that the last posted speed sign I passed was 40 mph. She said I could try and fight it then if I wanted to, but if I decide to fight it then I cannot file a "deferred finding" which means I would have to pay the face value of the ticket and they would sit on my ticket for 12 months and at the end of that 12 months they would pull up my WA driving record and at that time if I have not received any tickets then it would be dismissed. So I either pay the $101 fine and request a deferred finding or I go to court and I fight the ticket and I could possibly loose, because after all that is just how it works....... SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS. I told her that I have never in my life ever had a speeding ticket, she said then it would not be a problem to get it deferred. So basically the dick head who wrote me the ticket wins, created a little revenue for his county. She said if a state trooper had responded it is the state's policy whenever an accident occurs a citation is written regardless of fault or not and they use "speed to fast for conditions" as a way to cite you. WHATEVER!

This is such a pain in the butt, no joke, I stopped taking my pain pills because they made me to loopy - I would never be a good drug abuser I couldn't take it, now I have to pay a ticket and my bike is being totaled and the insurance company won't replace my gear and well hell I need to kick my dog next! I put Mike on the phone with the insurance company yesterday and I think maybe the guy is seeing things a little bit different..... He said gear is optional, (he also told me that he rides), so I said, "would you allow your wife or daughter to get on a motorcycle and ride with shorts and a tank top", he said "no", I responded with, "then why is that ok for me". He said that it is no different then if my car was broken into and someone took my cd's or a lap top computer etc.... I said, "Hardly the same, gear is not a luxury item, it is a necessity to riding safely and isn't that what you want is to ensure safe riders? Well that doesn't appear to be the case and we will be shopping for new insurance soon..." We have our homeowners coverage, two auto's, two motorcycles and a toy hauler trailer all insured with them.... Heck just the auto insurance premiums alone over the last 12 years have been well over $30,000 and we have never had a claim. Insurance companies suck! Also I did not realize that our motorcycle policy does not have Personal Injury Protection (PIP) like an auto policy, so my medical bills will not be covered by them either, they will be deferred back to my health coverage through my employer. Mike and I did not realize that, so you all might want to check your policies as if you can imagine an accident on a bike can be quite costly from a medical stand point. He said to have that we would of had to get a separate endorsement. Well now we know.

ok, I'm done complaining..... back to work.

Kim, sweetie pie, take it easy. Fight the ticket. If the State of Washington thot the corner shud be 35, they shud post it. In fact, they shud be liable for all costs when they know that several bikes have gone off there and no posting has been made. It is lawyer time. They owe you for failure to post a known hazard.

Amen shotgun, I would go to court with all of the other accidents that have happend at that corner. Let them know you were going the posted speed and I dont see how they could uphold the ticket. Then again they shouldnt be able to do a lot of the ticketing they do in this and all states Im sure. Tell them you are shocked to find out from the officer that this is a known bad corner that should be a 35 instead of 40, and nothing has been done about it? Sometimes the officer doesnt even show up for the case and they will drop it. Could be that easy.

Hope it goes well for ya Kim

Kim, I suggest paying the fee & taking the deferral (I'm currently on one). It keeps your record clean for sure, whereas you can bet you'll walk away with SOME kind of conviction if you try to fight it. Judges are always on the cop's side, dambetcha. Just my $0.02. Heal up & ride on!

Kim - fight the ticket, it is good for your soul.

I suggest:

Have all of your ducks in a row. Have a photo of your bike, it does not look like a crotch-rocket, and ask the officer what it looks like. Document the previous crash a member of our group, I think, had on that corner.

Insurance - gear is not optional, helmets are law. You may want to contact Team Oregon or another training group for "official" back up. Another idea - post the name and contact info for your agent and company, maybe we can all contact them.

Kim,I know what you are talking about when you found out about no PIP threw the ins. comp. When I went down and had to have the surgery on my hand I had to go threw my med. ins. comp. They will be contacting you about the bills. You will have to sign some papers saying there was nobody involved in accident but you. They will want to know who was responsible. I bascially told them that it was just me, the bike and the pavement. I know there is a name for all this but can not think of it. I will call you when I get home if you want more info.

Shotgun, so what will the sale of Destination do to the club sponser?

S1, Glad to hear that Tracie is going to start riding. Tell her CONGRATULATIONS!!

Shotgun - I am sad that they are selling..... they are such a great group of people over there. I hope the staff is retained and the sales/service dept continues on in the same fashion.

Wreck update: Well insurance just called and my bike is being totaled. Bill to fix all that was damaged $9455.25. Now Guido will be calling me with a low ball offer - oh the joy! They have agreed to replace my helmet at full cost $533.85 and a $200 gear allowance on top of that.

Ticket: When I talked to the clerk if you try and fight the ticket then you waive your right to a deferrment. Because an accident occurred, she said "too fast for conditions" would probably prevail regardless of how the street is marked or speed posted etc. Bottom line - I screwed up!
